Payu retreated as he noticed the growing discomfort on Rain's face. He chuckled a little, making sure that Rain could interpret that whole event as nothing more than a joke, then he started walking back to the mansion. Rain didn't add anything, however he noticed something weird when he looked at some of the farmers that worked for Som's uncle, it was like they were chatting to each other while looking at them.
Unfortunately, Rain wasn't the only one to notice that. Payu realized what was going on, so while he took Rain back inside, he left him there to talk to some workers who were having a break near the barn.
"Look who's here! It looks like you moved on rather quickly, huh? Good job boy" one of them said. Payu looked at him with obvious confusion, and when he asked them what they were talking about, they shrugged because they thought that Payu already know the whole story.
"I thought you knew about Som and Mark. I mean... he hasn't told us a thing, but it is quite clear. He's always around him while you stay in the house... we thought that you two had broken up. You seemed so melancholic after all."
"You're wrong. We are even closer that ever!" Payu said irritated.
"Closer? Then why were you with that other guy a few minutes ago? We saw how close you were to him" the man added and laughed.
"He's going through a hard time with Som's sister, that's all" Payu added and left, leaving everyone surprised for that turn of events. When he entered the house, Rain feared to approach him, considering how angry and disappointed he looked like. Rain wasn't surprised to see that instead of going back to him, Payu basically barricaded himself inside his bedroom.
Som, Ple and Mark soon came back. Mark went straight to the barn to organize the space for all the supplies that were arriving the following day. While he was there, he managed to hear some chatting between the workers, then as he approached them and asked them what was going on, he couldn't believe his own ears and immediately reported everything to Som.
"Do you mind explaining me what happened when I was out with Ple and Mark?" Som asked with an unusual authoritarian tone to Payu, who was still visibly annoyed. Payu stood up and resolutely responded that he didn't know what he was talking about.
"Oh, so you don't know... well, if you want to flirt with my sister's boyfriend, you could at least try to do it behind closed doors, because right now the whole farm is laughing because of your unloyalty!" Som yelled.
"Unloyalty? You dare to accuse me like that? Let me tell you this, the whole farm, as you say, has been laughing behind my back for weeks! Apparently everyone thinks that you're dating Mark. You should have heard them... looking at me with pity because they thought I was some sort of broken heart locked in the house!"
"but..."
"I'm not finished, Som. I was trying to comfort Rain and it wasn't easy considering that your dear sister has always compared him to me! So while you were playing as the happy farmer, I was here trying to make sure that your sister's relationship doesn't end in disaster!" Payu shouted, then he felt guilty for raising his voice like that and looked away.
"I'll call for a taxi and I'll leave tomorrow, it is obvious that my presence here isn't useful for any of us" Payu finished.
