Author's POV
The birds were chirping half visibly in view of the mistiness since the haze was concealing the giant mountains, giving rise to a heavenly atmosphere that felt almost surreal.
The soft cooing of the feathered creatures harmonized with the gentle rustling of leaves, creating a symphony of nature that enveloped the landscape in tranquility. The air was crisp, laced with the scent of pine and earth, and the occasional flutter of wings added a lively touch to the otherwise serene scene.
The water was outpouring in a brilliant aquarium blue, cascading down the rugged rocks in a mesmerizing display. It drizzled and danced into the crevices, generating an admiring humming sound as it tumbled down the mountains, its rhythmic flow echoing through the valley like a soothing melody. Sunlight filtered through the mist, casting glimmering reflections on the surface, making the water appear even more enchanting.
As the cultivators and martial gods traversed the winding path leading to the top, they were met with an invigorating chill that seeped into their bones. It was freezing, and one figure in particular was shaking a little, his breath visible in the frigid air.
Lan Zhan, ever the protective husband, stripped his outer robes and placed them gently over Wei Wuxian's shoulders, offering warmth against the biting cold. Wei Wuxian responded with a warm smile, his eyes sparkling with affection as he leaned in to give Lan Zhan a peck on the cheek.
Nearby, Jiang Cheng rolled his eyes, trying to suppress the irritation that bubbled within him at the sight of the shameless couple. He had always found their displays of affection to be a bit excessive, especially in public. However, his annoyance was short-lived, as he noticed Shi Qingxuan giggling at the scene, while the younger juniors were blushing, their faces flushed with embarrassment.
What they didn’t realize was that just behind them, two individuals were also sticking to each other intimately, lost in their own world, perhaps unnoticed by the larger group, their connection just as profound as that of Lan Zhan and Wei Wuxian.
"We are here!" exclaimed Jingyi as they finally reached the illustrious Cloud Recesses.
"It's quite peaceful here," stated Shi Qingxuan, taking a deep breath and absorbing the tranquil atmosphere that enveloped them.
"I can feel positive energy!" said Mu Qing, his eyes lighting up as he sensed the harmonious balance of the surroundings, a stark contrast to the chaos they had left behind.
"Let's go inside," said Jin Ling, his tone filled with eagerness as he walked toward the grand entrance, his excitement tangible.
"Wait!" exclaimed Wei Wuxian, suddenly feeling a wave of apprehension wash over him.
"Lan Zhan, the protection talisman is not here," Wei Wuxian noted, his voice tinged with concern as he realized that Jin Ling had entered without the layer of protection he had so carefully placed before their departure for Nightless.
"But baba, you placed it," said Lan Sizhui, his eyes wide with confusion as he witnessed the unfolding situation.
"Someone destroyed it!" Wei Wuxian muttered, urgency filling his voice as he hurriedly walked inside the Cloud Recesses, his heart racing at the thought of what might have transpired in their absence.
The others followed him closely, the cultivators now wearing expressions of concern, as they all understood the significance of a talisman created by the Yiling Patriarch---such artifacts were not easily tampered with or destroyed.
"A-xian, is everything fine?" asked Shi Qingxuan, her brow furrowed with worry as he caught up to Wei Wuxian's hurried pace.
"Don't worry, Xuan jie; you should not concern yourself!" Wei Wuxian assured.
