Rei ended up going on a date with Masato that day, Masato wanted to make sure that she knew that his words were true and factual. He didn't want to misled the elder raven haired female, he had been talked to day after day from many of his peers and his senpai's. So he was going to do what he could to make up for what he had done to her.

He had taken her out for a late lunch, while they ate he spoke with her about what would happen between them.

"Rei, I'd like to formally apologize for what happened between us when we first met one another."

Rei placed her hand up and gave him a small smile. "Listen Masato, I know you have gone through a lot being the eldest child of your families name. I get the stress of that gets to you. Especially since I'm aware that your father namely never wanted you to become the talented idol you are now. Having a soul mate, especially someone who is a year older than you isn't ideal for someone with your name sake. As you already know I had already accepted that rejection before even meeting you."

"I never wanted to reject you Rei, but you are right that it isn't ideal for someone in my family to have a soul mate that is older than them. Even though my father doesn't wish for me to be an idol he does want to know who I end up being around in the end. I don't wish for you to go back into your comatose state so for now we're not going to be seeing my family if that's alright with you."

"That's more than fine, I'm not keen on you meeting my family members either. You should already know why."

"Your siblings truly know no bounds do they?" Masato asked sadly

She shook her head no "No...they don't. I'm well aware that my stupid brothers are well...stupid." She said with a sigh

"Are they the main reason you thought I'd reject you?" Masato asked curiously

She shook her head no again before she placed her hands together on her lap. "Not at all, it was actually your own words when we went to Shinning academy that made me feel like you'd reject me. Do you remember talking with two of the males in our class about the soul mate system and telling them that you never believed in it, that you'd never find yourself in love with the woman the government thought you'd do well with?"

Masato's blue eyes widened hearing her speak. "Y-You heard me speak back then?"

"Of course I did. I was assigned to sit in front of you throughout classes Masato."

He averted his eyes and let out a sigh before he looked back at her once more. "Listen, back then I was ignorant. I didn't think that anyone I'd get would do me justice especially since even back then I liked you. I didn't want what I felt to be for nothing."

Rei's brown eyes widened as she looked at him flustered. "Y-You...You liked me back then? B-But how...why?"

"Why not? You were a studious woman who kept to themselves. Even though back then I didn't know the year age gap between us it doesn't mean that it's change at all. Hearing you sing days ago made me remember why I fell in love with you to begin with Rei. I've just been too cowardice to do anything about how I felt because of the system that is in place." Masato said as he leaned against the table as he smiled at her

Rei averted her eyes as she felt her face heat up from his words. "Y-you're the first male to ever say such words to me. I...I never thought that I'd ever be able to talk to you like this-especially knowing that we're soul mated together because of the government system. I...I need to ask this because of my stupid mind...W...Would you...would you still be with me even if the soul mate system wasn't around?"

Masato leaned over the table and made her look at him before he smiled at her. "Of course, I did just tell you that I liked you back when we were in school did I not? You should know that I am not one to lie. Had I had the chance to speak to you previous to now, I would have asked you out on my own terms."

Her brown eyes teared up as she heard him speak. "M-Masato...T-Thank you...Thank you for saying those words to me."

Masato brushed away the tears from her face and smiled at her. "I wish to keep you happy Rei, I hope that one day you'll be able to express yourself towards me."

"M-Maybe one day when I feel like I can fully trust you. As of now...T-That's not going to happen."

"I understand and I won't push you out of your comfort zone if you don't wish for it."

She sniffled and nodded her head. "O...Okay t-thank you."

After they finished eating and Masato paid for their late lunch they walked around together as they talked to get to know one another. As it got late Masato took her home and he took her keys out of his pocket. "Here, you should have these back. Also I had one of my senpai's at Shining industries drive your car back here, it's parked near the tree by the corner."

"Oh...well thank you Masato. I'll be at work tomorrow, so hopefully we'll see tomorrow."

"You should. The female lead was never recasted, so its still yours." Masato said with a smile

She gave him a kiss on the cheek as she took the keys from him. "I'll keep that in mind Masato, I'll see you tomorrow."
