the girls are still at my parents house and rich and i are going to go pick them up. their birthday was last week and we haven't really done much as a family for it. we have done their birthday parties and all of the family party but nothing just the four of us.
we are going to talk them to dinner and then go and see the new Trolls movie. they have really wanted to see that.
i had called my mom earlier saying that we are on our way to pick them up.
when rich and i got in the car he places his hand on my stomach. the same as he did when i was pregnant with the twins.
R "i can't believe your pregnant."
A "i can't either. but babe?"
R "yes?"
A "this is our last one right?"
R "yeah i think three is a good number"
A "okay good"
R "why did you ask?"
A "i don't know i'm just a little worried. the twins birth was a little ruff and then Laney."
R "everything is going to work out just fine. I'll be at your side through all of it."
A "you better not leave for a work trip right before i am about to give birth."
R "i won't i promise."
A "how do you think Adeline and Amelia will react?"
R "i think they will be excited to have a little brother or sister."
A "let's tell them tonight."
R "okay!"
A "and then tomorrow we can tell my mom and dad! i can't wait to tell my dad. i've never done that before."
R "okay baby." he laughs slightly at me and then continues driving.
i rest my hand on his leg and say "you know your mom and dad sent this baby to us. they are looking down so happy right now."
R "i know. thank you baby."
A "for what?"
R "for being the most amazing wife and mother to our daughters. but for also knowing me better than anyone else in the world and knowing when i miss my parents. it really does mean a lot to me."
A "i know it does"
we got to my parents house and they were playing outside. we walked into the backyard and they came running to hug us.
R "hi girls"
Amelia and Adeline "hi mommy hi daddy"
A "did you have fun with grandma and grandpa?"
Adeline and Amelia "YES!"
rich and my dad went and played with the girls and i went and sat with my mom.
A "hi mom."
P "hey"
A "were the girls okay?"
P "they were perfect angels as always."
A "i'm glad"
P "del is everything okay?"
A "yes why?"
P "well when rich called me to come pick up the kids i asked if everything was okay and he said that you were acting strange. and i overhead Amelia and Adeline talking and they were wondering what was up with you."
A "look mom rich and i were talking in the living room while the girls were playing and rich kept asking me what was wrong and i said 'nothing i can't tell you in-front of the girls' so then the girls asked why and so i said 'something's just have to stay between adults' that's what was going on when rich called. nothing serious was going on."
P "okay well will i ever get to figure out what it was?"
A "yes i'll tell you tomorrow but we are going to be late to dinner if we don't go now."
P "okay have fun" i hugged her goodbye and then went over to get the girls.

adele went over to talk to her mom and Mark came and joined me over by the girls.
M "hey man"
R "hey"
M "everything alright with adele?"
R "oh yeah she's fine"
M "okay good you know i don't want anything to happen to her."
R "i understand and i promise nothing will happen."
M "look i know your dad isn't around anymore but i want you to know that i will always be there for you."
R "thank you."
M "may i ask how your dad passed?"
R "he died of cancer."
M "oh im so sorry."
R "yeah"
M "how old were you when he died?"
R "i was 19"
M "oh shit man i'm so sorry"
R "thanks"
M "what about your mom? how old were you when she passed?"
R "i was 36"
M "oh"
i heard footsteps behind me and i looked and it was adele.
R "hey babe."
A "hey, hey dad"
M "hey sweetie"
A "rich we have to get going."
R "okay"
R "Amelia and Adeline time to go. go tell your grandparents goodbye."
they did as i said and i wiped the small tear from the corner of my eye. talking about my parents is hard.
A "babe you okay?"
R "i'll tell you later when the girls are asleep."
adele's pov
we got the girls in the car and we started talking.
A "what did you two do at grandma and grandpa's?"
Adeline "we played outside and made cookies"
A "oo you did was that fun?"
Amelia "yes it was! grandma said we would see them tomorrow too."
A "yes you will"
Adeline "why?"
R "because we have news to tell them"
Amelia " what is it?"
R "we will tell you at dinner"
Amelia "fine"
rich rested his hand on my thigh and kept driving.
Amelia "mommy?"
A "yes baby?"
Amelia "why does daddy always put his hand on your leg?" i looked at rich because honestly i don't know the answer.
R "if you are a man how you show your wife love when you are a grown up is putting your hand on their leg."
Amelia "why don't you just hug?"
A "mommy and daddy hug. we just can't hug right now."
Adeline "momma?"
A "yes darling"
Adeline "why do you and daddy always kiss on the lips but you don't kiss sister or me on the lips."
A "that's something grown ups do baby. you only kiss your husband or wife on the lips"
Adeline "oh"
after their questions were done we finally got to tue restaurant. we had a seat at the table and the waiter came and got our drink orders.
Adeline "what was the news?"
Amelia "yeah"
A "well babies would you be happy if you got a brother or sister?"
Amelia and Adeline "YES YES YES"
R "well good thing"
Adeline "mommy do you have a baby in your belly?"
A "yes i do!"
i can't wait until this baby is here. he or she will have the best sisters to look up to.
