Chapter 19

Som eventually managed to fall asleep, or at least this is what Payu saw. Payu, on the other hand, couldn't get over the sense of guilt for yelling at him like that, and so he headed to the outside of the house to breath some fresh air and clear his mind.

"You can't sleep, I don't blame you..." Ple said. Payu was surprised to hear a familiar voice, he turned and saw her standing by a deck chair. She came closer to him to continue the conversation she's started, although Payu did his best to show his obvious discomfort around her.

"I have a reason to be awake, what's yours?" Payu asked.

"Yeah, I know your reason. I couldn't help but overhear your argument with my brother, you both shouted so much that it was difficult not to hear you. Payu... you know I still like you"

"Yes, I know it. I want you to know that you better move on from that feeling, or at least try not to damage others because of that. Rain can clearly feel that he's your second choice and I can assure you that he isn't enjoying this experience" Payu responded irritated.

"One day I'll find the courage to tell him the truth face to face. Tonight though... Payu, would you ever tell the truth to a friend of yours, even if it meant that they will feel pain after that?" Ple asked with a guilty expression.

"I guess that I would... better to know the hard truth than to live a nice lie, right?" Payu replied.

"I'm happy you see that as me. Because there is something you should see..." Ple added with an innocent smile, she took her phone out of her pocket and chose a video, then she handed the phone to Payu and told him to play it.

The video showed Som and Mark at the market. Apparently Mark found something delicious on a stand, he bought it and took it to Som. The video that started with Mark's clearly flirting behavior, ended with him kissing Som on his lips. Payu almost let the phone fall from his hands.

"Thank you, Ple, I guess you gave me a reason to stay here" Payu said with a sarcastic smile, he went back to the bedroom he shared with Som and fell asleep.

The following morning, before getting downstairs for breakfast, Som stopped Payu and gulped.

"Payu, there is something I need to tell you about yesterday..."

"Oh, what is it? But before you continue, let me tell you that I won't leave. I know that it was just a big misunderstanding and that you and Mark have no feelings for each other, I just overreacted and I hope you will forgive me for that" Payu said with a hint of sarcasm that Som didn't notice.

"I... I didn't think that... that's wonderful! I'll do whatever you want to deserve your love more than ever! I swear! If you want me to forget about this farm, consider it done! We can go back to the city and enjoy all it can offer!"

"No, I would never ask you that. You love this place so much, I don't want you to give up on what you like"
