Virginia woke from her uncomfortable slumber, to a few kisses on her cheeks.
"Mother, wake up!" Derrora said, looking into her mother's eyes. She was perfectly healthy. The sky was still dark, moonlight illuminating them all.
"Derrora?" Virginia began. "DERRORA! YOU ARE ALRIGHT!!" She exclaimed, after realizing that her child was..completely healed? She immediately hugged her child, tears pricking the corners of her eyes.
"what now..?" Maryland began, getting up and rubbing his head. He looked at derrora, and blinked a few times. "you are...not injured anymore?"
"Yeah this wolf tried scratching me! It didn't hurt for too long though." Derrora responded, cheery as ever, jumping up from Virginia's arms.
"..why did you run off? We were so worried.." Virginia began as she once again pulled Derrora down to run her fingers through her hair.
"I had this feeling to run that way! I'm sorry mother and father, I couldn't control it!" Derrora began, starting to sob thinking she'd get in trouble.
"No, no, don't cry, it's alright!" Maryland scooted closer, trying to comfort her.
As always, she calmed down in their arms, and proceeded to fall asleep.
"is she...is she the personification of the district of columbia?" Virginia tried.
"I-I believe so." Maryland responded. "We can't keep this from our father or the other states any longer though." He paused. "Speaking of the other states, who did you send to get us?"
"Delaware." Virginia responded.
"..Decent choice. Where is he?" Maryland looked around. To their right, they saw lamplight in the distance. "Is that him?" He pointed.
"Perhaps. I guess we could try?" Virginia responded. She began to shake derrora awake. "Derrora honey, wake up. Mother and Father are hurt, and can't pick you up." She woke up, and began walking with them towards the light, still tired.
"Yay! We are home!" Derrora exclaimed, as the sun started to peek through the trees. Maryland creaked the door open, letting Derrora and Virginia enter.
"Ladies first," he said with a bow and wink.
"And who would've thought you would be such a gentleman?" Virginia said sarcastically.
"..ever-" Maryland started.
"MOMMY DADDY THERE IS A STRANGER IN OUR BEDROOOOOM!" they heard their daughter yell, and whipped their heads around to her direction, and ran to the room. Inside, they saw a man, just as young as the young parents.
"oh don't worry, that's just your uncl-" Maryland began. "OH GOODNESS THAT'S YOUR UNCLE!" he stumbled back, making his injured leg hurt even more, and began falling to the ground.
Milliseconds before hitting the ground, he realized that someone caught him.
"Oh so now who is the gentleman?" Virginia said, before having him slip out of her arms and onto the floor. Oh well, at least she slightly cushioned the landing. "Gosh, you're heavy.
"No I am not!" He responded.
"Yes you are!"
"You just aren't strong enough to pick me up~" Maryland said in a teasing tone, trying to rile Virginia up.
"Oh really, I would've loved to prove you wrong, but SOMEONE didn't lock the door last night!" She said, while lifting up her arm and gesturing to it.
"Wow you two really argue like a married couple." Said Delaware, still sitting on the side of the bed. Derrora was just playing with her doll named Sally in the corner.
"We do not!" Maryland and Virginia said at the same time.
"You do, now explain all of this." Delaware gestured to the house and derrora.
"Simple explanation, after the celebrations when D.C. was made 3 years ago, we woke up and found her. We have agreed that she is our child." Maryland began.
"And you told.. no one?" Delaware asked, mildly impressed.
.
"We knew the information would reach father, and we didn't wish to worry him." Virginia responded.
"And then it just became habit, I presume." Maryland elaborated.
"Actually, as of tonight, we suspect that she may be in fact.." Virginia paused, "the personification of the District of Columbia."
"That..Actually makes sense." Delaware started. "Alright, should I call Massachusetts to come heal you two?"
"It isn't particularly necessary," Virginia said.
"You can barely move your right arm, it's obvious, and Maryland can't walk." Delaware said. Derrora stumbled up to her parents and uncle.
"Mother, Father, who is Massachusetts? Is he also my uncle? Do I have more uncles?" She quickly asked.
"You do, and you also have aunties, and a grandfather!" Delaware said, trying to instill some excitement and curiosity about her family into his niece.
"Mother, Father, can I meet them?" She asked, with bit pleading eyes. Maryland and Virginia stared at each other for a second before turning back and nodding.
"We can bring you to the meeting this time, I presume." Virginia said, hesitantly.
"YAAY!! THANK YOU MOTHER AND FATHER!" Derrora jumped in excitement.
"Now, can you bring Mass over here? I am kind of slowly... BLEEDING OUT?" Maryland said, bringing attention to his still bleeding leg.
"Alright, you don't have to be so harsh!" Delaware said, opening a portal, dropping a still sleeping Massachusetts onto the beds. Well, formerly sleeping.
"AAAA WHERE AM I DELAWARE I SWEAR IF YOU TELEPORTED ME SOMEPLACE RANDOM AGAIN I WILL FLIP OU–" Massachusetts began, the second he hit the bed. "Oh hey Maryland and Virginia how a-.. You're bleeding out." Massachusetts realized mid sentence. Before he could continue, Someone walked up to him.
"Mother, Father, is this Uncle Massaa?" Derrora asked, looking at her parents while standing in front of the bed section that he was now sitting on.
"Wait, mother and father?? IM AN UNCLE??" Massachusetts asked surprised. This was too much information.
"Mmhm!" Delaware said from behind them.
"Its a long story," Maryland sighed.
"Now could you be a great help and heal us?" Virginia said, rolling her eyes. "We will explain it all later at the meeting."
