The next morning, Charlie checks her calendar. Today's the 21st of October, 2023. Only barely over two months until the extermination (on December 31st).
Even though Charlie started this hotel almost a year ago (the day after the previous extermination), she only has four employees and two tenants. But at least she thinks she's formed a great bond and friendship with everyone. She gets ready for the day and leaves her room.
Charlie enters the elevator and exits into the lobby as usual. Husk hands her the usual coffee, a Frappuccino.
As she takes a sip, she hears a faint sound. It's a soft, melodic singing that seems to be coming from upstairs. She looks around, but there's no one in sight. She finishes her coffee and heads towards the staircase, wondering who could be up there. As she makes her way up, she notices the elevator doors closing behind her. She turns around and sees Alastor walking towards her, a mischievous grin on his face.
Then, she blinks, and he disappears. She is confused for a moment, then he taps her shoulder from behind. "Good morning, my dear. What are you up to?"
She turns around to face him, surprised to see him there. "Oh, just taking a break from my work. Waking up, y'know," Charlie replies, trying to sound casual.
Alastor chuckles, "Of course, I can see that. Good for you." She nods, trying to play it cool. "So, what are you up to today?" she asks, trying to keep the conversation going. Alastor's mischievous grin returns as he leans in closer to her.
His (permanent) smile deepens. He says, "Oh, I don't know. Maybe take a walk? Visit Rosie (and the Cannibal Colony)? Grab a bite? (he quietly chuckles)."
She nods slowly. Then he smiles wider once again and walks away. She returns to the lobby. As she enters the lobby, she sees Vaggie standing near the front desk, reading a magazine.
She turns to her and gives a nod. "Hey there," she says with a smile, "What's up?"
Charlie shrugs, taking another sip of her coffee. "Nothing much," she replies, trying to sound casual.
Vaggie nods, "Well, I was just wondering if you had any plans for the day. I could use some company if you're not too busy."
Charlie raises an eyebrow, "Company? For you, always. What do you need?"
Vaggie grins, "I just thought we could go for a walk through Wonderland. It's supposed to be a beautiful area, according to Alastor. And while I'm not that inclined to fully trust or believe Alastor, It might be a fun break for us. Especially after yesterday."
Charlie nods eagerly, "Sure. That sounds fun." She finishes her coffee and follows Vaggie out of the lobby and into the hallway.
As they walk, Charlie notices Niffty cleaning the floors with a mop and bucket. She looks up and smiles at them as they approach. "Morning, boss," she says.
Charlie returns the smile, "Morning, Niffty. Is everything okay?"
Nifty nods, "Yes, just a bit of cleaning. The floors look good."
Charlie nods, "Good to hear. I'm sure you'll have them sparkling soon." Niffty nods. Charlie and Vaggie exit the hotel. They have Razzle and Dazzle drive them both across the city.
Soon, they both arrive in Wonderland, a massive, magical park (full of dark magic) in Pentagram City. The trees are tall and twisted, their branches reaching towards the sky like fingers reaching for the stars. The flowers are bright and colorful, their petals dancing in the breeze, and sharp teeth that beckon unsuspecting creatures. The animals are wild and free, and demonic, darting through the underbrush and hissing at everything.
