"Kevin, come back!"
I shouted on my phone. Leche naman kasi tong lalaking to. He took my car keys!
"Miss me already?" He said. Parang nakita ko tuloy yung nakangisi nyang mukha.
"How am I supposed to go home without that? Nakakainis ka naman e." Seryoso. Naaasar na talaga ako sa taong to.
"Babe, you can always commute. Daming taxi dyan o." I knew it. I know he's trying to make me do this again.
"Eww. Don't call me that. At alam mo naman na I can't commute." Yes, I can't. I mean, hindi ko kaya. Ever since I got into an accident before, wala na kong pinagkatiwalaang magdrive kundi ang sarili ko. And Kevin, of course.
"Babe, I mean Lizzy, that was three years ago. Get over it."
"Easier said than done, Kei."
"Exactly why I'm doing this. Para masanay ka na."
"But Kei~"
"No buts. Go. I'll be waiting." He ended the call.
Damn, that sadist!
Kung alam ko lang na gagawin niya to, di na lang sana ako nagpasundo sa kanya.
I stared at the spot where I parked my park. Hay. I better start walking.
I hailed a taxi. After telling the driver my address, I just closed my eyes. My hands are shaking the whole ride and I can't stop biting my lips. Langya talaga, lagot sakin yang lalaki na yan.
My phone rang.
"Nasaan ka na?" It's Kevin.
"Hell." Napatingin sakin yung driver sa head mirror.
"Lizanna!" Full name. I'm in trouble.
"I mean, I'm on my way."
"Oh good. Will you please put your phone on loud speaker for me?"
"Bakit?"
"Just do it, Lizzy." I sighed. Ginawa ko na lang yung sinabi niya. Di naman ako mananalo sa kakulitan ng taong to e.
"Hello, Manong Ben!" Wait, what?
"Bakit ho, Sir Kevin?" Sagot naman ni manong driver.
"Teka, magkakilala kayo?"
"Haha. Pakiingatan naman po tong babaeng to para sakin. Ingat po sa pagmamaneho. Dapat makarating po dito nang buo yan ha? Kahit gasgas manong, bawal."
"Kevin!"
Natawa si manong.
"Oho, Sir. Ako na hong bahala."
"Good. Heard that, Lizzy? Si Manong na daw bahala. Stop worrying. I love you." And again, ramdam ko na naman yung ngiti niya.
"I- I love you too." I ended the call. Shemay. Lahat na yata ng galit ko sa kanya kanina, bigla na lang nawala. And now, I can't stop smiling.
I looked out the window and saw lights. Hay. City lights really amaze me. They're like stars, but brighter.
The taxi turned right to our subdivision. Few minutes later, I saw my car parked right in front of our house. And standing next to it was Kevin.
The taxi stopped. Kevin ran to my side para pagbuksan ako ng pinto. He was carrying a bouquet of red roses and he has a huge smile on his face.
He kissed my cheeks and handed me the flowers.
"Congratulations, Babe. That's the first time you've ridden a taxi in three years."
I smiled, touched his left cheek with my right hand and gave him a smack on his right cheek, and whispered, "Thanks."
