I was waiting for DenDen to come out of the fitting room. She has been inside like forever! We were both bored and wanted to have some girl bonding time after the U23. Too bad Amy and Ella are not available today. So it's just me and DenDen amusing ourselves.

I looked around the boutique to check on the other items when I felt someone behind me whisper,"'Di bagay sa 'yo yan. Pang-girl 'yan."

I smiled.

I turned around and saw Kiefer with his brother, Thirdy. It seems they were out on a shopping spree as well.

"Craving for a knuckle sandwich?" I jokingly threatened him. He gave me a sweet smile instead.

"Who are you with?" he asked, looking around.

"DenDen, and she's still in the fitting room."

He seemed pleased with my answer, and gave me his most charming smile. "Dinner. Japanese. On us," he invited.

"Glad you asked," I grinned back.

After dinner, we just lounged and laughed about people we know and the funny situation they are in. I was laughing so hard, I kept on hitting Kiefer.

I was surprised when he held on to my hand. That somehow brought me to my senses. I'm not sure if it is his subtle way of making me stop from hitting him.

Yet I never removed my hand. I felt comforted. Safe. I looked at him, with happiness on my face, and he looked at me the same way.

I think I'm the luckiest girl alive.
.........................................................
I don't want her to remove her hand from mine. I wanted it that way, to just hold on. How many times have I done this before?

Yet tonight, I just wanted to bask in her happiness. I want to see that smile on her face. And I just enjoy the warmth of her hands enclosed in mine.

The idea that this hand could strike terror in a volleyball match seems so fragile and meek in mine makes me want to hold on it even longer.

If only....

I stopped my wayward thoughts. I had to.

Yet as I look at her smiling face, I know it's just a matter of time before my resolve crumbles.

"Ly, why didn't you accept Kiefer's offer to bring us home?" DenDen asked while buckling in.

"And how do you think will we be able to bring the car home?" I sarcastically replied. I started the car, and maneouvered out of the parking lot.

"Well, yeah... There's that. But it would have really been convenient if someone is driving us home," DenDen whined. I looked at her on the rearview mirror and I could see that impish twinkle in her eye.

"Spill it out, Besh. What's eating you alive," I asked.

She gave me a big smile... That smile I know so well... That there is something big that she wants out in the open.

"Besh, remember that one night we talked about Kiefer?"

I raised my right brow.

"I saw him holding your hand," and she smiled to conclude her point.

I took my right hand off the steering wheel and took her hand.

"There. Happy?" then quickly returned my hand on the steering wheel.
