Shadow's ecstatic in my mind, taking control over me. I'm so shocked that I let him leads us toward her. My heartbeat's never been this frenzied, but it's still doing better than my brain. It's such a mess it's a miracle it's not slushy yet.

Why's my back drenched? Did someone dump his drink on me? Don't tell me it's sweat. Oh goddess, am I going to faint? Please no no no no no no no. Oh goddess it's her! Shadow, it's really her! Thanks goddess oh my goddess what are we supposed to do? Oh goddess it's really her. Oh my stars look at her!

Shadows somehow keeps our body just enough in control not to start a public scene. I'm just melting in front of her.

Her black hair is the first thing I recognize since it's the easiest part of her to spot from afar. Every single strand is waving freely on her round shoulders, cascading all the way down the curves of her exquisite body, from the outline of her breasts to the hollow shadow of her navel. Their darkness frames and contrasts with the softness of her pale face. Her soothing features haven't aged much from the one I keep painting in my dreams. Her long and dark eyelashes caress the top of her rosy cheekbones like angel wings. They open just enough to reveal the light of her moony eyes lost in thoughts.

She's there, sitting alone at a table, a sandwiches in her hands, lost in her thoughts. I can't believe it.

Without asking me, Shadow takes us directly to her table and make us sit right in front of her.

Oh my goddess what are we doing??? Sitting just like that? What—

Dont screw this up! Get it together! Shadow barks.

I straighten myself by instinct, but it's a bit overdone since Shadow adds to it. Oh no, we can't look too overbearing. We want her back, not make her flee!

We have to be perfect.

I can't look at her directly, it would be too much. Instead, I stare at her hands. Her beautiful, careful and gentle hands, that took such good care of me in the past.

In the past.

Oh goddess she's only a meter from us, only across a table, but it feels like we're apart by a canyon. A canyon of three years long.

Oh shit. We're so dead.

She knows nothing, I remember and instantly panic. Shadow! For her, we're the asshole who disappeared without living a trail, without notice! She thinks we dumped her without even bothering to say goodbye! She must hate us!

Don't make assumption, Shadow tries to calm me down, but I can feel him clawing the ground of stress. Just be nice. Be polite.

Oh goddess. We just disappeared, and now we're here, sitting in front of her as if nothing happened. As if we left only five minutes ago.

I can still remember the last time I saw her. We were at the University. We were supposed to have a date at the movie in the afternoon, but some guy tossed his horrible stinky drink on me and I had to go buy a new jean. Nat offered to go ahead and get the tickets while I'd get some clothes. I went to buy some, but on my way back, Sabrina and Tristan showed up unexpectedly and kidnapped me home, destroying my phone on the way.

She must hates us, so so much.

The despair such thoughts inspire me is like a punch in the guts, pulling me all the way down to the center of the Earth until the underworld of the legends.

Hey, we did come back, Shadow tries to pacify me. In September, remember?

It took months! And she had disappeared by then!
