"Dear Diary,"

Jane wrote down, thinking of what moments of her crazy day to include in this page.

"I've always loved deer. But not when they're crazy, bloody, and running towards your family. For years I've loved deer. When I was younger I'd have tons of photos of deer on my walls, I'd cover my room in deer plushies. That changed today. I was out for a walk, but I was shocked to see earlier, a deer. To be more specific — one with strange spots on it, and.. blood dripping down its face. And it acted really odd. Usually, when I approach.. or .. attempt to approach one, it gets scared and wanders off. But this one, it's different. I has quickly run back to my house .. to, you know, research. I.. live with my mom, but I'm working towards a house of my own. Or, I used to live with my mom. When I got home, she was talking to me about some stupid 'deer-pocalypse' as I stared at her with a raised eyebrow. But boy oh boy, she wasn't making stuff up. My dog, Ace, perked up an ear and started growling at the window. So of course.. I went to check it, because why wouldn't I? Worst. Decision. Ever. Some unfamiliar, warped face appeared at the window. I yelled out for my mom.. which resulted in—"

Jane scribbled the last few words out. "Nevermind."

Sigh.

"Come on boy, we're not safe here." She put a leash on the dog, then headed upstairs.

She grabbed her diary, some snacks, a sharp knife and some other things.

As the headed back downstairs, she heard a faint growling noise from outside. "Shit." She grabbed the knife from out of her backpack, just in case. She started to stealthily walk towards her car. "Up, Ace." She whispered, as her dog leapt into the car.

The loud sound of the car starting urged the creatures to run towards the it. "SHIT SHIT SHIT!" She quickly drove away from the house.

Hours pass by, Jane, absolutely tired of driving, and she heads to a random store.

"No dogs allowed." Said an unamused sounding employee.

"Sorry, but I literally just—"

"Said no dogs allowed. You and your pooch can either get out, or police will be notified."

"Seriously, I'm just trying to stay safe with this— this whole zombie thing going on."

"I assure you your dog won't be kidnapped by a zombie, ma'am."

"Come on, you know that's not what I mean."

"There's a pet store right down the street."

"No—" Jane sighed. "Dude, I'm not here for my dog, I'm here for myself."

...

"Then leave your dog in the car, you just said you're not here for him." The employee rolled their eyes.

"There is an APOCALYPSE happening! Open your eyes! Who the hell cares if a dog steps one paw in a store, people are dying! Or.. un...dying? Something like that. Come on, let us stay?"

"Let's see." The employee thinks for a second.

"No thanks. Get out."

"Ugh, I hope you get bit." Jane flips them off.

"I hope I get bit too." He chuckled.

"We got an edgy guy over here. Let's go." She pulled on the dogs leash and headed back into the car. "There has to be a pet-friendly store somewhere here.. I think I even remember hearing of one, I could drive there but it'll take like.. a whole nother hour."

Jane put her hands back on the wheel and looked over at Ace, who just tilted his head and yawned. "You tired boy? Come on, let's find somewhere to stay. What do you think about dads house?"

Ace barked in response.

"Great, let's go." Jane started her journey to her fathers house.
