In the early morning, Alex and Johan started walking on an old road going south. Everything was quiet, except for the sound of their feet crunching in the snow. The forest around them was like something out of a fairy tale, beautiful but also a bit scary.

Tall pine trees, heavy with snow, stood on both sides of the road. They looked like giant guards in the forest. The ground was covered in thick snow, and sometimes they saw animal tracks, which reminded them that they weren't alone in this big, white world.

The air was really cold and made their cheeks tingle. Every time they breathed out, they could see their breath turn into little clouds that disappeared quickly. The only noises were from far-off birds.

The morning light made the snow sparkle. It was like the whole forest was covered in tiny diamonds. This made everything look magical, even though it was super cold.

As they kept walking, they had to be careful. The ground was sometimes icy, and they didn't want to slip. The cold kept reminding them that winter in the forest was tough.

The deeper they went, the more trees there were. It felt like the forest was closing in on them. This place was so different from Cedarwood Hollow, wild and untouched.

They kept walking, looking at the beautiful forest but also watching where they were going. This old road was taking them to new places, to find out some answers.

As they reached the edge of the ravine, Alex and Johan stared at the wide gap that blocked their path. The road simply ended, leaving them with no clear way forward.

Johan let out a frustrated sigh. "Great, now what do we do?"

Alex pulled out the map, but it wasn't very detailed. Just then, she noticed an old road sign, half-covered in snow. Brushing it off, she read aloud, "It says the town of Mobodarna is only 10 kilometers from here."

Johan peered over her shoulder. "That doesn't sound too far. Maybe we can make it by foot faster through the forest?"

Alex nodded, though unsure. "Let's try. It's better than going back."

They started walking through the dense forest, hoping to reach Mobodarna. The trees were so close together it was hard to see the sky. They talked less as they focused on the challenging hike, moving around thickets and over fallen logs.

After a few hours, Johan checked his watch. "We've been walking for ages. Are you sure we're going the right way?"

Alex looked around, feeling uncertain. "The sign said 10 kilometers, but it feels like we've walked more than that."

They kept going, the forest seeming to never end. Hours passed, and their conversation dwindled to occasional comments about the direction or the scenery.

Alex and Johan couldn't believe it when they walked into Mobodarna and saw that nobody lived there anymore. The town looked empty and kind of spooky with all the snow and silent houses.

"We should set up camp for the night," Alex suggested, looking around for a good spot.

"Good idea. Let's find somewhere sheltered," Johan agreed.

They split up to gather supplies. Alex went to collect firewood while Johan looked for something to make their camp more comfortable. The town was silent, making Alex feel alone and far from home.

After a while, Alex returned to their chosen spot with an armful of wood. She arranged the sticks and managed to start a fire, its warmth a welcome contrast to the cold. The fire crackled and lit up the area, creating a cozy atmosphere in the midst of the abandoned town.

Johan was taking longer than she expected to come back. Alex began to worry, her eyes scanning the darkening streets of Mobodarna.

Finally, Johan appeared, out of breath. "Sorry, I'm late. Lost my hat and had to search for it in the dark," he explained, his cheeks red from the cold.

"It's okay, I was just starting to get worried," Alex said, relieved.

They sat by the fire, the light flickering on their faces. Despite the unsettling surroundings, the fire's warmth made them feel safer.

"This is kind of scary, but also exciting, isn't it?" Johan said, breaking the silence.

Alex nodded. "Yeah, it's like we're the only two people in the world right now. It's so strange to be in a city other than Cedarwood. I wonder how many others there are..."

They talked about their day, the long walk, and what could have led so many people to leave their homes. As the night deepened, their conversation turned more personal. They shared stories about their lives, their hopes, and dreams. The fire crackled between them, casting a warm glow.

At one point, their hands touched as they both reached for a stick to add to the fire. They looked at each other, and Alex felt her heart skip a beat. Johan's eyes were soft in the firelight, and there was a moment of silence, charged with unspoken feelings.

"Alex, I'm really glad I'm here with you," Johan finally said, his voice low.

"Me too, Johan," Alex replied, her voice barely above a whisper.

Sitting close by the fire, Alex and Johan felt a special kind of warmth, different from just the fire. It was cozy and new. Even though they were far from home and in a strange, maybe not-so-safe town, they felt good just being together. They had found something here they hadn't expected, making this night by the fire truly special.

As morning broke over Mobodarna, Alex and Johan packed up their camp, the warmth of the previous night's fire still lingering between them. There was a new closeness, a bond that had grown in the shared moment of the night before. They felt a mix of excitement and comfort in each other's company, a feeling neither of them had known before.

They continued their journey south, following a road that stretched out before them. The world around them slowly woke up, bathed in the soft light of the early sun. Their conversation was light, filled with laughter and shared glances that spoke of the new connection they felt.

As they walked, they noticed the landscape changing. The trees thinned out, and the road led them to an open area. The forest gave way to a vast, open field. As they approached, Alex squinted at the sight before them. The field was dotted with objects that at first glance seemed like rocks and pieces of wood.

"What is that? A field of rocks?" Alex asked, her brow furrowed in confusion.

Johan, peering more closely, shook his head slowly. "No, Alex, those aren't rocks. Look closer."

As they drew nearer, the shocking reality became clear. The field was filled with graves – hundreds, perhaps thousands of them. They were all different, some made of stone, others of wood, and some just simple mounds of earth. Each one was unique, marking the resting place of someone once alive.

Alex felt a chill run down her spine. "I can't believe it... There are so many..."

Johan, looking out at the field, said quietly, "It's like Cedarwood Hollow is just a small island in this huge ocean of death. All these graves, they're the stories no one ever told us."
