Ember sat in her room, the windows open, as a cool breeze drifted through. Reading the last bit of the chapter she was on she sighed and laid the book gently next took her, as she maneuvered onto her back, atop her bed.
Summer was nearing an end and soon she would be whisked away to school with her younger brother, not knowing what this coming year's troubles would be. Since her brother had become a first year along with the boy who lived, danger seemed to follow as the years passed. Going into her sixth year at Hogwarts she held panic in her chest at what the future held for her. She only had two more years and she had no idea what she wanted to do with her life. The thought has often consumed her recently and her family has taken notice.
A quick knock sounded at my door, and I rolled my head to the noise, not bothering to move my body.
"Em?" Draco's voice sounded out softly from behind the door bringing a smile to my face. "Yes?" the door slowly and I saw my brother's bleach blonde hair peek through the door, a small smile on his face.
"Father says he has a surprise for us and wants us in the sitting room." Swiftly I sat up and swung my legs around the bed to fully face Draco. "A surprise?" My head tilted to the side, as I felt my smile grow.
Draco's smile grew as mine did and he nodded quickly, his inner child shining through for a small moment. "Yes, so come on let's go!"
My eyes rolled and I stood, "Yes, yes, let's go." I linked my arms with my brother, and we walked down to the sitting room together. Softly I laid my head on his shoulder and sighed in content and slight bitterness at the fact that he is almost a foot taller than me now.
"You know you must start growing again, I feel as if you are shrinking sister." My eyes narrowed, but I kept my head where it was. "And you must stop bleaching your hair, or you'll start to cause more serious brain damage brother."
We glanced at each other stone faced, before breaking out into larger smiles, reaching the sitting room door. Draco reached up and knocked on the door, announcing our arrival.
Our fathers deep voice called out letting us know to come in. Entering we saw him sitting on a comfortable looking chair reading the paper. "You wanted to see us father?" My voice came out smooth and gentle as he gestured for us to sit down across from him, on a small green sofa.
A smile grew on his face, and he set down the paper giving us his full attention, "I have some news." A quick glance at my brothers barely contained excitement made me slowly start to feel more impatient wanting to know what was going on.
"Come on father don't leave us in suspense" I whined out hoping he would take pity on his only daughter. His smile grew and he told us we were making a small trip before school started.
Reaching into his pocket he slowly pulled out one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen in my lifetime. Tickets to the Quidditch. World. Cup.
I leapt up from my seat, my mouth opening and closing as no words came out, so I decided to just throw myself at my father in a very aggressive hug. His grunt mixed with Draco's voice saying, "Oh my god, no way!" over and over again was all I heard as I buried my head in my father's chest.
'I'm going to the Quidditch world cup!'
