FIRST MEETING

Land inside my mind for a moment.....

There are a lot of ways I picture myself falling in love but one of my favorites is this......

I was walking down the street from my apartment on the way to the jazz club where I performed often ( she in her singer bag fr). It was a beautiful night in Detroit, it had just started raining and the air smelt like good food, joy, and peace. As I made my way to the entrance I noticed someone staring at me, not in a creepy way but as if she was observing me.

I've never liked when people would stare at me in public but for whatever reason her eyes made me feel safe, comfortable even. If I'm being honest I almost didn't look away, in truth the only reason I did was because Edmond, the bodyguard for the club, called me over ahead of the line because I was up next to sing. As I was walking by we made eye contact again, maybe it was the music or maybe It was her eyes but I was lost. Love at first sight is bullshit, but the way my heart was beating almost made me believe in it. Then she spoke, a simple "Hello" Her eyes that were a deep shade of brown, her skin brown and smooth, But her voice, sweet Jesus her voice. It was smooth and soft but firm, in truth it was faint, barely above a whisper. "Hi" I was barely able to say. I finally managed to look away and continue to walk inside the club, and let me tell you something, it was beautiful. Like it was absolutely stunning. Every time I walk in there it feels like the first time.
I walk into my dressing room and change into a green dress and pick my fro out, adding a few jewels here and there.
When it was my turn I walked on stage and it was as if all worries melted away. As I began to sing ( If you can't sing pretend you can) my rendition of Everything you touch is gold and Insanity ( stop playing with miss gurl) I saw her again and just like that it was only us, no one else was there, no one else was allowed to be. Just me and her and the music. Jazz really is a powerful thing huh? I couldn't look away and I didnt want to. It's like everytime I see her I get lost in those eyes.
When the song ended we kept eye contact for another five seconds before I got off the stage.
After getting changed into a more comfortable yet still appropriate dress I sat down in my favorite booth and allowed myself to wind down and sink into the music. That was until I saw her.
She was walking over to where I was sitting and I damn near passed out. " Hello" She said with a smile that made my soul smile. " Hi" I say and return the smile " Could I sit here? If you don't mind, of course." " Uh Yeah, definitely" could've been smoother but whatever "Thank you, Im Yareli " so pretty everything huh? "Y/N, nice to meet you".
