~ Daryn ~

I found myself standing beside an unconscious Daemon who laid upon a pile of books.

"What happened?", I asked.

With a grunt, his eyes flickered until he shot a steady gaze at me for a minute before managing to get back on his feet.

Wearing a frown on his face, he asked, "Dude...are you okay?"

"I-I don't know...I feel kind of weird, like my mind was swallowed by darkness", I answered.

I honestly didn't understand what happened; it felt as though there were missing gaps in my memories, and no matter how hard I tried to recall them, nothing came through.

"How did you step into section 118 without getting plunged by the invisible barrier?", he asked.

My face crumpled into a deep frown at the sound of his words. All I could remember was that I blacked out immediately the lights went off, nothing more.

"I was here the whole time...I don't remember stepping into section 118", I argued.

"Then how did you get that book?"

That was when my attention became drawn to the strange looking book I was holding all along. Its thick, black leather cover felt rough and it had two fork shaped hinges for either sealing or opening it.

I felt the blood drain from my face, and my eyes shone in amazement as I continued staring at it, but not until he called out my name.

"I-I...how did this--", I stuttered.

"I heard voices in my whispering some vague words to me", I said.

"Where's Zelda?", I wondered.

"She must've vanished or something", he answered.

An awkward silence existed between us after I placed the strange book on the shelf that stood beside me.

"You look exhausted...we should return to our dorm and think about this tomorrow", he said.

"Yeah"

************

I stared at my sunken eyes in the mirror a few minutes after we arrived in our dorm, trying to piece together, the shattered fractions of my memory.

Vague images flashed through my eyes, causing me to gasp and flinch backwards. Darting into the the bathroom, I grabbed hold of the white ceramic washbasin and turned on the tap, allowing myself to feel the cold water as it flushed down my face.

A while later, I slid into my navy blue pyjamas and crashed upon my bed with my eyes fixed upon the ceiling.

Averting my gaze to Daemon who laid on his bed, I asked, "Dude...can you tell me what happened at the library?"

He let out a grunt before turning to me.

"Are you sure you wanna know?", he asked.

"Okay, you didn't black out..."

My ears twitched upon hearing his words but I remained silent while he began explaining all I needed to know.

"I was...possessed by the strange book?"

I sat up, wearing a deep frown while my gaze remained glued upon him.

"Yeah", he answered.

A lot of questions lingered in my mind at the moment, but the most prominent one remained:

"How was I able to cast a spell without  unlocking my energy torrent first?"

Upon deciding that I was never going back to the library, I had no way of getting the book of spell problems; meaning that I had to search for my answers elsewhere.
