I ALTERED THE SCENE AHEAD TO MAKE IT SEEM LIKE ISABELLE IS TALKING WITH SELENA INSTEAD OF CLARY BUT 100% CREDIT FOR THIS SCENE AND ITS WORDING GOES TO THE SHOW.

Selena's POV
As soon as I come to, I hit another forehead, and pain shoots through my skull.
"Ow," the girl in front of me mutters, rubbing her head.
"Oh, I'm sorry. Do you normally watch over people while they sleep?" I ask, rubbing my forehead too.
"No," she replies with a smile.
"Wait, I don't even know who you—" I begin, confused.
"I'm Isabelle," she says, cutting me off.
"O-kay," I drawl, glancing around the unfamiliar room.
"I've never seen my brother so curious about a mundane... or distracted. As you saw earlier, distractions are dangerous in our line of work," she explains, her gaze steady on me.
I glance over and see Clary lying unconscious on another bed, and my attention snaps back to Isabelle.
"I have no idea what you're talking about," I say, my voice tinged with frustration.
"You really don't know much, do you?" she asks, raising an eyebrow.
" All I know is that some psycho took my best friend's mother. I got attacked by some demon, and now you people have... taken the both of us," I say, my voice sharp.
By 'taken,' I assume you mean 'saved your life'?" Isabelle chuckles softly, a bit amused.
"The mundanes shouldn't even be here. Look, they're awake," says the black-haired guy from earlier, walking in with the blonde one.
"Where is here exactly?" Clary asks, and I turn to see she's awake now, her voice laced with confusion.
The blonde guy moves to sit next to her, while the other one, Alec, stands behind Isabelle and me.
"She's not a mundane, Alec," the blonde guy says, his voice firm.
"How do you know that?" Alec questions sharply, his tone full of doubt.
"Because the seraph blade lit up when she touched it," the blonde—Jace—replies, gesturing toward Clary.
"When did you fight?" I ask Clary, bewildered.
"When we were in the club. You were too busy being protected by him," she says, pointing at Alec behind me.
I turn to look at him, and he shrugs, clearly annoyed, his eyes darting back to Jace.
"I'm Jace Wayland," the blonde guy says, introducing himself to Clary.
"I'm, uh..." Clary stammers.
"Clary Fray. We know who you are," Jace says, cutting her off with a casual certainty.
"Am I the only one who finds this unusual?" Alec remarks, his voice sharp as he glances between Clary and me.
"I second that thought," I mutter, earning an eye roll from Jace.
"You find everything unusual, Alec," Jace responds, dismissive.
"I have to report this to the Clave," Alec says, his voice firm as he stands.
"Wait, the who?" I ask, completely lost.
"Shadowhunter governing body. We'll talk about it later," Isabelle answers, flashing me a reassuring smile.
