I slammed my hand down on the button of my new alarm clock, irritated by the relentless beeping that had disrupted my sleep. Grumbling, I pulled the covers over my head, determined to ignore the morning. After a few moments, I reluctantly dragged myself out of bed, tossing the covers aside with careless abandon. Yawning and rubbing the back of my head, I stood up and was suddenly hit with a dizzy sensation, swaying and ultimately falling face-first onto the carpet.
Lying there for a moment, feeling a tingling sensation, I eventually mustered the strength to move my arms and pick myself up. Using the wall for stability, I straightened up, slouching a bit and rubbing my face to shake off the disorientation.
"Great way to start the day... must have been aftershocks," I mumbled as I gathered my composure. Glancing at the clock '1:32 pm'.. Taking small, cautious steps, I navigated my messy room and headed down the hallway toward the kitchen.
Upon reaching the kitchen, I stood in the middle, momentarily clueless. 'Hmm, I'll make some pancakes for today's lunch,' I thought, moving towards the counter. Opening the cabinet, I grabbed pancake mix, flour, sugar, and baking powder, setting them on the counter. I then went to the fridge, shivering as the cold air hit me when I opened the door, and retrieved milk and a small carton of eggs. After closing the fridge, I bent down to grab a bowl and a whisk, placing them on the counter alongside the ingredients.
'Shit, forgot the recipe,' I groaned mentally, turning to grab the cookbook next to the stove. Flipping through the pages, I located the pancake recipe and began pouring the ingredients into the bowl with precision. Whisking carefully, I ensured each ingredient was added accurately, determined not to make any mistakes.
Once the batter was ready, I placed the pan on the stove, turning the knob to high. A series of clicks preceded the emergence of a flame beneath, warming the air around and heating the pan. After a while, I lifted the bowl and poured the batter into the pan, the sizzling sound accompanying its contact with the hot surface. With a spatula in hand, I skillfully flipped the oversized pancake that covered the entire pan, despite the limited amount of batter.
Flipping it once more, a satisfying sizzle echoed as it met the hot frying pan. After a few minutes, I turned off the stove, grabbed a plate, and tilted the pan to let the pancake gracefully slide onto it. Setting the pan back on the stove, I reached for the syrup, which had been patiently waiting on the counter.
Carrying both the pancake and syrup, I settled onto a stool at the counter and reached for my fork. However, my enjoyment was interrupted by an unexpected jolt. "Damnit!" I exclaimed, frustrated by the electric shock. "Stupid electric currents... second time already," I grumbled as I picked up my fork and began eating.
Glancing at my watch while raising my right arm, I was startled to see the time: 1:45 pm. "Shit, I'm going to be late for work!" I thought, hastily abandoning my meal. I threw down my fork, rushed to my room, and changed into leggings and a short-sleeve shirt.
Tying the back of the shirt with a rubber band, creating a makeshift ponytail, I swiftly tucked it under and grabbed my mask. I threw on my wing quickly adjusting it. Snatching my keys and bag, I hurried out of the house, jumping into my car and speeding off towards the Oceanarium.
