"Why do I keep thinking about you?"
The first time Yi-chan met Binna wasn't in the gym storage room. It was long before that. Before he ever laid eyes on Choi Se-kyung.
Back then, Binna wasn't just another girl in the art department.
She was his first love.
He had been walking home from school, his bag slung lazily over his shoulder, mind somewhere between boredom and fatigue, when he caught sight of her—standing by the Han River.
She wasn't doing anything remarkable. She had her eyes closed, lips curved into the gentlest smile, her long, wavy hair dancing with the breeze. The sunlight hit her face in just the right way, making her glow like something out of a dream. The serenity she wore, the way she seemed to exist completely in the moment—untouchable, untouchably beautiful—froze him in place.
He didn't even breathe.
It felt like watching a painting come to life. Something sacred.
When she opened her eyes and walked away, he realized—only then—that his heart was racing.
He didn't know her name. Didn't know anything about her. But from that day on, he started taking the long way home. Just in case she was there again.
And she was. Almost every day.
Reading. Strolling. Sitting beneath the trees with a book or feeding stray kittens at the nearby park. Sometimes she'd stop at the bookstore before disappearing into the town.
Yi-chan never approached her. He couldn't. She was too divine, too far above him. What could he possibly say?
But he watched.
Watched her walk into the ice cream shop he worked at. Made sure to add extra strawberry—her favorite flavor—without charging her for it. She never noticed. She didn't need to. It was enough for him just to be near her.
