We made our way through the crowded room. It was dark, with occasional flashes of red from the dj's station. Smoke filled the air, the smell of cigarettes and blunts mixing with gross-people's sweat, I'm definitely not drunk enough yet.
I recognized all the faces that came to my parties, I have never spoken to some of them but I did know who they were. And most importantly, they knew who I was.
There were only two new faces at my party tonight, the witch and the apprentice. Neither of them has ever been invited to my parties before, Rebecca will argue that she never wanted to, but we both knew it was a lie. Everyone wanted to be at my parties, everyone.
I could feel her eyes darting at me, she was watching my every move, examining every single twitch my face made. I looked around and spotted her, of course next to her was little Timmy, the idiot who was too lame to even have his own identity without Rebecca being a part of it.
"Bec" Em said excitedly and left me to hug the witch, I could not possibly fathom how they got so close over the past few months. Emily was a kind and loving angel while Rebecca was, well, an insufferable bitch.
I took a deep breath and stretched my lips to form my brightest smile, I'm sure I looked psychotic, but I'm trying and that's what Em wanted.
"Carmichael" the witch spoke, more like snarled at me, I kept smiling "Rebecca, Tim". I could keep it civil.
I could.
Right?
"The drinks are in the kitchen over there" Em pointed in the direction of the kitchen as she explained everything, her soft voice was the only thing that kept me from acting like a total bitch.
"Is Layla coming?" Tim asked and Em nodded, Layla was actually pretty nice. She was this cool artist, always sketching something in her iPad or on her wrists. Sometimes when I'd get bored in class I'd look at the paintings and sketches she drew in her notebook.
"Where'd you say the booze was?" Tim asked and before I could reply Em took his hand in hers, if the dude wasn't gay I'd be livid right now. "We'll get us some drinks" she said and dragged Timothy to the kitchen.
Great.
Just great.
"I don't know what fucking game you're playing but you need to stop" the witch spoke and I cocked my brow "She's been through a lot, you are the last thing she needs" she added and my blood reached its boiling point.
Why was she trying so hard to crawl under my fucking skin.
"What happened to playing nice?" I snarled and she rolled her eyes.
"What do you want from her?"
"I don't answer to you Johnson" I said coldly, trying to suppress the rage that was flooding my system.
"I couldn't care less about you, but if you hurt her I will—"
"If I hadn't promised to be nice to you I would've had my hand wrapped around your throat right now, stop pushing my buttons" I spoke firmly and earned a sarcastic chuckle.
"God knows what she finds in you Carmichael" all her hate towards me concentrated into one sentence. Could she possibly like Em? I knew Rebecca was bi but I also know they are friends. Just friends.
"Everything she doesn't find in you I suppose" I shot back and by the way her breath hitched I hit a nerve, this delusional bitch was actually after my girl.
"You're so full of yourself" was all she could come up with and I chuckled.
"If you try to come between us I will make your life a living hell" I threatened, my tone low and calm, but we both knew I meant it.
