Everyone had gathered around the doors that could be opening any second. Eloise was standing at the front with Newt right next to her. They had only left the walls early in the morning to gather the stuff they'd need to run in the maze.

Eloise looked at the blonde boy, his brows were furrowed and he had a look of concern on his face. She grabbed his hand and squeezed it a little. Newt looked down at her and gave her a reassuring smile, telling her it would be okay. She wanted to believe that, she really did. But deep down she felt hopeless, like it was a lost cause. Her best friend was gone. So were Thomas and Alby. A wave of sadness ran over her again but she kept her tears down. Now was not the time. She had to be strong.

Her thoughts were interrupted by the loud sound of the doors opening. Her heartbeat started to pick up. She gave Newt's hand another squeeze before letting go. The doors were now fully opened and everyone looked inside trying to find a trace of life. Nothing. No Thomas, no Alby, no Minho..
Eloise felt a crop form in her throat but she tried not to focus on it.

Some of the boys behind her had started to walk away. Back to their jobs, no hope for the runners to return. Eloise and Newt looked at each other, letting the other know that they were ready to run. Suddenly Chuck started yelling. "YEAH!!"

Eloise looked back into the maze and there was indeed some movement. Three boys coming their way. One of them was unconscious with his arms around the other two. Eloise couldn't move. Emotions wash over her. Joy, relief, confusion,...

The boys who had walked away came running back as everyone pushed forward, trying to get as close as they could. When the three boys reached the glade some of the boys took Alby from Thomas and Minho, yelling for a med-jack. Jeff and Clint were by Alby's side in no time. Eloise couldn't get herself to move though. Newt was not beside her anymore as he had also run to the crowd. The three runners were attacked with questions.

"What happened?"
"How'd you survive?"
"Are you okay?"
"Did you see a griever?"

Eloise heard a familiar voice answer that last question. A voice she missed so much even though it was only one night. A night full of tension and anxiety, sadness and guilt. Guilt because she couldn't save her best friend. The one she had become the closest to in her three years of being in this shitty place.

"He didn't just see one, he killed one."

That's what finally made her snap back to reality. She ran towards the crowd, making her way to the front. Pushing some of the boys out of her way in doing so. When she made it to the front she stopped again for a moment. There he was in front of her.

She didn't waste any more time and charged at the boy who just stood up again. She jumped and wrapped her arms around his neck and her legs around his torso. Minho took a step back from the impact of her smaller body colliding with his. He looked down at her confused before realizing who it was and wrapping his arms around her. He hugged her tight while her head was in the crook of his neck. Tears were streaming down her cheeks once again.

"I thought I lost you, you shank." Eloise whispered against his neck. It sends shivers down his spine but he didn't show it in any way.

"I would never break a promise" Minho answered while putting the girl back down. His hands were still placed on her waist while they just looked at each other. For a moment Eloise thought she saw Minho's eyes flicker down to her lips but he looked back at her eyes before she could make sure.

That's when she noticed almost all the boys staring at them. She quickly took a step back and looked away from the Asian boy in front of her. The other gladers had stopped looking and focused back on other things. Eloise turned around to where Thomas was standing and walked over to him. She gave him a tight hug too. Thomas might not have been in the glade for that long but she liked him and was glad that he was back in one piece.
