Bang felt a mix of happiness and sadness when the little girl called him "Appa." It was a strange yet heartwarming moment. Early in the morning, the doctor arrived to check on her.
Doctor: "She's stable now. I think we should admit her to the care center. Mr. Bang, you've been here all night. You can leave we'll take her there."
Bang looked at the girl, hesitant to leave her.
Bang: "Doctor, can I take her there myself?"
Doctor: "Yes, of course."
Before heading to the care center, Bang took the girl to the hospital canteen and fed her. She ate quietly, clinging to his hand. Afterward, they got into his car and left for the care center.
At the care center:
The caretaker greeted them warmly.Caretaker: "We were informed about her arrival. Thank you for bringing her. Don't worry, we'll take good care of her."
The little girl held Bang's hand tightly, her wide, frightened eyes pleading with him not to go. Bang knelt beside her and gently pried her fingers from his hand, placing it in the caretaker's. As he turned to leave, she called out, "Appa!"
Bang froze. Turning back, he saw her crying. She broke free from the caretaker's grip and ran to him, hugging his legs tightly. Overwhelmed, Bang bent down and hugged her back.
In that moment, he made a decision.
Bang: "I'll take care of her until the case is solved."
Ignoring the caretaker's protests, Bang picked the girl up and left. On the way home, he stopped at a store and bought her clothes, toys, and candies.
When they arrived at Bang's home, he hesitated outside, unsure how his parents would react. His mother opened the door and called him inside. Once they were seated, Bang explained everything to his parents.
Mother: "Why did you bring her here? You should've left her at the care center!"
Bang: "Mom, she needs me. She calls me 'Appa' with so much trust I can't turn my back on her!"
Mother: "So what? She's not your daughter!"
Father: "Your mother is right. You don't even know her past! And what about your own life? You're at the age to get married. Do you think anyone will accept you with this child?"
Bang: "She's just staying with me until the case is solved."
Mother: "And if the case isn't solved? She's only four, and she's lost her memory!"
Bang: "Then I'll become her real father. I'll adopt her and give her an identity."
Father: "We don't agree with this! What about your career? You're being too emotional."
The little girl stood quietly behind Bang, holding onto his pants. Bang scooped her up in his arms and looked at his parents.
Bang: "I was confused about my life before, but now I know what I want to do. I'll take care of her, and I'll be a good father."
With that, he left his parents' house and returned to his apartment with the girl.
As his mother predicted, the case was never solved, and the girl's memories didn't return. Over time, Bang and the girl became inseparable, like a real father and daughter. Bang named her Bang Yon Seong and poured all his love into raising her.
Yon became his source of good fortune. Everything he touched turned to success he started an entertainment company, debuted famous idols, and became a renowned figure in the industry. Despite his busy schedule, he ensured Yon had a good life.
While Bang managed his growing company, his best friend Cho Eun Ae helped care for Yon. Yon saw Cho as a mother figure and confided in her about everything. When Yon expressed her love for singing, Cho encouraged Bang to train her. Eventually, Yon debuted as an idol under her father's company.
Yon grew up to be a loving and obedient daughter, always supporting her father. But as time passed, Bang became consumed by his work, prioritizing success over family. The once-close bond between them began to fade.
In the present:
Yon sat alone in her room, flipping through a photo album. Her eyes landed on a picture of herself as a little girl, holding her father's hand. Tears welled up in her eyes as she spoke softly to herself.Yon: "Why has everything changed, Appa? I feel like I'm no longer the daughter you used to love. Why did you adopt me?"
A tear slipped down her cheek as she gazed at the photo.
Yon: "I've been abandoned again, Appa."
She clutched the album tightly, feeling a heavy ache in her heart.
