It was the morning after, and I was still feeling upset

It was the morning after, and I was still feeling upset. I barely slept the night before, and you could tell. My eyes were red and dark from the lack of sleep, but I wasn't really planning on doing anything about it. I couldn't be arsed to bother make myself look put together just for school.

I walked into Jordan and Cory's room to check how Jordan was. Cory was in the shower. I knocked on the door before entering anyway, even though he didn't respond.

He was putting his school shirt on and I got a look at his back. It was awful. Big black and purple bruises on his back. I felt sick at how our own dad could do that, especially since he was meant to have gotten help.

"Hey" I spoke finally. Jordan was staring out the window, in his own world. "Hey" he responded, bluntly.

"You okay?" I asked. "Not really" he answered truthfully. "I'm sorry I didn't do anything, I really am. I wish I did" I told him. "It's not your fault Georgie. Please don't worry about it, just enjoy your day yeh?" Jordan reassured me, giving me a small smile, that I knew was fake, but I faked one back, just for him.

I sat in class, fiddling with my pencil case as everyone chatted around me. I heard the door open as Miss Keane walked in. "Morning Yr9!" She spoke cheerily. "How is everyone?" She asked. "I'm tired!" Lucy complained from beside me. "So am I" Miss Keane replied with a smile.

"Georgia we're all going to the park later, are you gonna come?" Katie asked, as her and Lucy both turned to me. "Um, yeah, yeah alright" I replied.

"Yay! Great!" Katie smiled. I gave her a small smile back, before pretending like I was listening to what Miss was saying, as I didn't really feel like my usual self and didn't really feel like talking to them.

I was sat in biology, my pen sitting on my empty page of my school book, as I hadn't payed attention to anything that we had done in class.

"Where's your work?" Mrs Shariff questioned, as she came over to check on everyone. "Where does it look like?" I sarcastically responded, pointing at my page. "Right, well you can do your work in isolation then" She told me. "Alright" I accepted it, as I picked my stuff up and left.

I walked through the corridor and into isolation, where Mr Bell followed me in. "Not you two and all!" He exclaimed, as I looked at who else was in here and saw Cory, looking up at both of us.

"What are you doing in 'ere?" Cory asked me. "I don't think she should be your concern right now... I just dragged your kid of Mr simpson. He refused to get into the shower after PE" Mr Bell told us.
