Balam Sensei had a little errand for R to run as he was too busy and wanted the boxes to be delivered ASAP. She was to deliver 2 packages, 1 to each mentee of his. They were little gifts for being able to survive his training. R set off to deliver the gifts 1st stop Asmodeus. She found him playing playing with Clara and Iruma. When she walked up she said, "Hey, sorry to disturb you guys. I have a delivery for Asmodeus from Balam Sensei" R said handing over the box. "Thank you for delivering this. What is it?" Asmodeus said holding the box. R replied, "I'm not really sure but he did say it's a gift for being able to survive his training".
"Ah, I see," Asmodeus said as he opened the box. Inside was a semi-transparent light blue bracelet and a note. Asmodeus picked up the note and read aloud "Dear Asmodeus I prepared a gift for doing so well in my training. It is a bracelet that can help you in the future. If your fire ever gets out of control break this bracelet and it will summon a powerful ice spirit quenching any rampant flames". "Wow Balam Sensei is always so thoughtful, tell him thank you for me" Asmodeus said as he put the bracelet on. R nodded then said her goodbyes and left on to her next delivery.
She started her hunt for Sabro, looking around the royal one, the cafeteria, and finally, his battler party. She walked into the battler party room looking left and right trying to find Sabro before she gave up and asked someone. The demon she asked pointed to a door to the right. R thanked the demon and went on her merry way. R found Sabro reading a book and writing notes. She said, "Hey Sabro, sorry to bother you but I have a delivery from Balam Sensei for you".
"Sabro looked up from his book and said, "Oh what is it?". R said "It's a gift, he gave you and Asmodeus a little something. It's for being able to pass his mentorship". Sabro opened the box to reveal a necklace with a black wooden centerpiece with a note that he read aloud saying "Dear Sabro I prepared this gift for doing so well under my tutelage. This is a very rare kind of wood, it has both properties of metal and wood. With time you should be able to master using the material to create defensive tools like sturdy landing pads and shields". "Wow he truly cares about his students. He must have noticed that my defense was lacking. When you get a chance please tell him I'm extremely pleased with this gift and thank him for me" Sabro touched by Balam Sensei's sincerity, immediately put on the necklace. Not many believed in him or helped him, most mocked him or thought he couldn't do it.
R said "Wow that's beautiful! Ooo wanna try it out now? I bet it will be really helpful to you!" The two went outside and found a nice little grassy clearing in a semi-private area to test out his new material. Sabro bit on it and found that it was sturdy while being a little flexible. It was also softer on his teeth than metal to bite on so it was more comfortable for long-term use. He first made a shield, it was slightly warped though as he was still getting used to it. The shield had many strands woven together, although the quality wasn't the best as the weave was loose and messy. While he practiced R watched in amazement, slightly jealous that demons have bloodline abilities. R also thought that how excited Sabro was every time it got better was cute.
Before she could ask herself why she thought he was cute, a student came up to her and asked "Excuse me are you the girl in the news article? If so could you tell me about your relationship with Sabro?" Sabro was busy trying to figure out his new 'toy' so he didn't really pay attention to them. R replied to the girl, "What news article? Last time I checked I wasn't nearly famous enough for anything like that". Then the student pulled out her phone and showed R the article.
The front page was a picture of Sabro scooping R up into his arms as he tried to escape the conference. Sabro had a serious expression on his face with a protective posture, and R had a scared expression on her face as she grasped Sabro's torso. The article had an obnoxious and clickbaity title: "Unknown girl disrupts Humanology conference clashing with Dr. Malacharn, then gets bailed out by her lover". When reading the article it started with a little blurb about who Dr. Malacharn is and how respected he is in the field with an image of him looking professional. Then it showed an unflattering picture of R at lunch laughing while holding a gyoza on her fork. With a small blurb about how she is a nobody research assistant. After those 'lovely introductions' a cringy and gossipy article about how her ideas are causing divides in the community and how some say "that her 'evidence' is worth less than horse shit". Thrown in were a couple of pictures of Sabro carrying R in his arms as he flew, with a small blurb guessing that this was her lover as they came together, hung out together, and he bailed her out at the end.
After R finished reading the article she said "Ummm yes that's me, but I have no idea what they are talking about. My ideas aren't 'worth less than horse shit' and I didn't try to clash with Dr. Malacharn. I didn't even know this was a thing until you showed me, thanks." The girl then said "What about your relationship? Are you two dating?" R replied, "Who? Me and Sabro? with a shocked face. "No, we're not dating, we're both single". The girl then suspiciously replied, "Are you sure?" with a questioning face.
To which R turned to Sabro and said, "Hey Sabro are we dating?". After being silent this whole time he seemingly lost in thought he said "Hmm no we're not dating". "See, now do you believe me?" R said. The girl said " Yes I believe you" seeming relieved. R then said, " Wait how did you know it was me? I'm new to the school". The girl replied, "Oh I, like many other demons recognized Sabro, then I saw you 2 together just now and put the pieces together". R thought about what the girl had said and realized that demons had been looking at her a little strangely today. Then she said, "Oh so that's why some demons have been looking at me weirdly recently, I thought it was all in my head". The girl seemingly satisfied said goodbye and walked off.
When the 2 were alone again Sabro who had stopped trying out the material since he replied before, said "Hey, are you actually okay? If you want I can try and see if the news outlet will take it down" with a concerned face. Sabro was worried that R was just acting strong, after all, she was a little human in a big scary world full of demons that wanted to eat humans. Going up against a well-respected expert, in Humanology no less could be dangerous. R replied "Oh that's alright. I'm just a little more popular now" with a wink and a smile. R had decided from day 1 in the demon world to not sweat the small stuff and just go with the flow. I mean like what could she do, she's just 1 person.
Sabro smiled and said, "Alright then, that's a good attitude to have". R then said, "Wow you know what Sabro? I'm just now getting notoriety, but for you, this is just your usual. You're so popular that people recognize you while you're doing whatever". "That's true," he said with a slight chuckle, laughing at how she's a terrible liar and how she just misspoke but didn't even notice. (She misspoke because she said "people" instead of "demons")
Then R mused, " Dang, maybe I should get an autograph that way in the future when you're famous and well-known I can brag that I know you. Or better yet sell the autograph for a profit". Then they both laughed with Sabro saying "Pft- I guess I can autograph something if you give me something to write on. I never thought about someone getting my autograph with selling it in the future in mind". R then said "Yep, you better believe it. After you, I should pester the whole class to give me their autographs" with a wink. Sabro laughed thinking to himself 'Why does this little kitten think that she's a lion? She's so bold and blunt.'
