"Hello? Anybody there? Could you maybe turn on some lights?" I tried letting my eyes adjust to the darkness of the echoing room but to no success, all I could see was black. "Have you seriously just left me in a dark room after the way you treated me earlier?" I question my voice timid not exactly the angry tone I wanted.
As soon as I finish my sentence all the light turn on in a quick flash startling me, I could now see I was in a warehouse type of room with concreate walls and blocked off windows. "What did they do to you?" a loud feminine voice says.
My eyes scan around the room before noticing a figure standing not too far away. The figure walked towards me as I stepped back unsure of what to say, "I... uh...I don't know I was scared I... I guess" I stutter.
She continues walking until she was only metre or so away from me. I look her up and down, from her black hair with blue ends to her rose tattoo on her arm. "Good they better not have hurt you" she says looking me straight in the eyes through her glasses. "So, Heather Chandler" I can see her eyes scanning my body immediately making me self-conscious cueing my hands to wrap around my waist.
"How do you know my name?"
She scoffs slightly "I know everything I need to know about you Heather."
"Who are you?" My eyes squint trying to see if I remember her but I cannot think of any one like her.
"My name is Alex" She smiles pushing her glasses up on top of her head.
"And what do I need to know about you... Alex?" I raise an eyebrow seeing as she knew so much about me I need to even this up.
Alex shrugs at my question, "I guess you'll have to work that one out for yourself won't you." I notice her smirk but push everything aside I am almost certain there were more people who brought me here. "Hey! Are you even listening to me?" Alex asks her voice low and raspy.
"Yes I am, sorry" I look down blushing and pulling the sleeves of my jumper over my hands holding it with my fingers.
"How's Kurt?" I hear her speak, arms crossed and looking straight at me like she already knew my answer.
I can feel all the colour leave my face, I go white as a sheet. "He, uh, well, Kurt" I stutter all of my words becoming short of breath. Why is she asking me about him, of all people why him. Yeah-great conversation starter with someone you know everything about. Ask them about their abusive ex. I realise I still haven't said anything. "Fine. He's fine" that was the most unconvincing thing I have ever said oh my god.
"Fine?" I know for a fact she didn't buy that for a second especially by her tone of voice for a reply. "Ruby! Laura! Can you get in here please?" Alex shouts to the other side of the room and two more women walk towards her and I. The one on the left had a short brown pixie cut and man she rocked it, she like Alex also had many tattoos. The one on the right however seemed a lot more innocent, long wavy golden blonde hair blue eyes and no visible tattoos.
I take a step towards Alex looking up at her my eyes scared, "It's okay" she reassures me. Once Ruby and Laura have made their way over they stand behind me giving me a higher sense of I am actually going to die right now. " I really didnt believe you when you said things are fine, ,I wasn't lying when I said I knew everything, Heather tell me."
"I dont have to tell you anything I just met you!"
"Heather..." Alex sighs "I care about you why would you think I don't, I mean I brought you here for you're own safety." She reaches out her hand and grabs mine "listen to me, I know whats been going on and I want to help."
"Who are you...?" I whisper looking directlyinto her eyes as mine start to water. Alex doesn't answer as she starts to lift the sleeves of my grey hoodie until it reaches my elbow. I look down diagonally not looking at all the bruises around my wrists and then trailing up my arm.
I feel the presence of Ruby and Stella moving from behind me to behind Alex when I look up I notice Alex's eyes starting to water to match mine.
She drops my arms quickly before turning around to face the other girls. "Its awful" I hear her whisper, "worse than we thought" I see Ruby mouth. Stella shakes her head.
As their backs were all turned away from me I use the time to pull my sleeves down taking a few nervous steps back. Before I get too far Alex turns back around, "Stop. Don't move" she was stern and her voice was demanding.
Ruby walks over to me. "We aren't here to hurt you Heather, you need to trust us" her hand placed on my right shoulder.
"Are there more?" Alex questions keeping her emotions hidden. I shake my head quickly implying no. As I'm shaking my head I feel Ruby's hand move from my shoulder and to the zipper of my hoodie. I quickly swat her hand away.
"Stop that!" I choke out zipping my hoodie back up.
"We just need to know if you are hurt anywhere else." Stella speaks up.
"She's right now get undressed" Alex was clearly getting more demanding the more she spoke. Her demands take me by surprise and I stutter trying to reply. "Just do it Heather" Her voice low.
I slowly unzip my hoodie letting it slide off my shoulders as I stand in front of three women that I just met in my bra doing my best to cover my waist line with my arms.
"Come here" Alex's eyes soften as her arms open pulling me towards her chest. "I'm sorry...I am so sorry Heather" I reach my hands around her it felt so nice to be hugged, don't cry don't do it don't do it, I tell myself.
"Alex?" I look up at her and she looks into my eyes, "Why?"
"Because no one deserves to be treated the way he treats you" She was blunt and her words all meant something when she spoke. "come on, put your jacket on. I'm taking you home with us I'll explain everything then."
