They 𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙤𝙙 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙨𝙦𝙪𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙚𝙭𝙘𝙚𝙥𝙩 𝙀𝙙𝙬𝙖𝙧𝙙 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝘽𝙚𝙡𝙡𝙖. Each of them stood still, silently staring ahead and waiting. Only the sound of the leaves of the trees could be heard when the wind came.
The newborns approached quickly and the first ones arrived in the square and they all started to run and attack, soon wolves joining with them. Adeline grabbed the first one and pulled the head off him, she moved next and one by one she ripped the newborns' heads off.
Every Cullen killed newborns. The three newborns caught the wolf and Adeline looked at Jasper who started running to the wolf while throwing vampires out of the way.
She grabbed the newborns and took the heads off two of them. She ran and a gray wolf approached her with two newborns behind it, Adeline jumped over the wolf and at the same time grabbed one by the head and shooed the other away. Landing on her feet and turning around, the gray wolf which had a white face killed the other two vampires that were after her. They made eye contact and she smiled widely and the wolf nodded at her.
Adeline stopped to look around and they did surprisingly well. Carlisle and Esme found the young newborn girl hiding behind a tree, she looked scared and didn't join the fight.
"What are we going to do?" Esme asked looking at Carlisle who was staring at the scared girl.
The newborns were all destroyed and Adeline watched as they burned in the fire. Soon Alice froze in place and told her vision. Jane, Alec, Demetri and Felix are coming.
"How long?"
"A few minutes maybe ten." Alice said looking at Adeline who pursed her lips.
At the same time, Edward returned to the square with Bella. "The wolves must leave. The Volturi will not respect our truce." Edward spoke glancing wolves.
Jacob arrived and at the same time a newborn appeared from the bush and attacked one of the wolves and Jacob thought it was a good time to play hero.
The newborn crushed Jacob's ribs and Bella was the first run to him. Carlisle appeared beside her soon looking at the Jacob.
"The bones on the right side are broken. The bones need to be put back in place before the healing process begins." Carlisle said looking at Sam who had come over to them followed by the other wolves.
"He must be taken away. Before the Volturi come." Edward said looking at Bella who looked worried.
"We're taking him to Billy's." Sam spoke looking at Carlisle.
"I'll come as soon as I can." Carlisle said now standing up.
"They are coming." Alice said and Adeline nervously stood next to them as they watched the Volturi arrive. The Cullens glancing at her cautiously and she looked up just as they stopped in front of them.
They were wearing cloaks and when they stopped Adeline watched as they lowered their hoods. Demetri glanced at her first, then looked at Alec whose eyes quickly found Adeline's. She looked at him with a disappointed expression and Jane must have told him about their conversation. Adeline turned her head a little and looked at Jane who looked into her eyes now.
"Impressive. I've never seen a coven escape an assault of this magnitude intact." Jane spoke turning her eyes away from Adeline.
"We were lucky." Carlisle spoke staring at Jane tightly.
"I doubt it." She replied and then Adeline turned her eyes quickly to Alec who spoke next.
"It appears we missed an entertaining fight." He said an his eyes met Adeline's again, she narrowed her eyes and Edward shifted beside her.
"Yes, it's not often we are rendered unnecessary."
"Half an hour ago you could have been useful." Edward snapped back and Jane shifted her eyes to the mind reader. "Pity."
"You forgot one." She turned to look at the young new born girl who was standing behind Jasper.
"We offered her asylum if she surrenders." Carlisle said stepping forward. Jane's gaze tightened and she looked at Carlisle.
"You didn't have that right." She turned towards the girl. "Why did you come here?" The girl fell to the ground from Jane's gift that she was using. "Who created you?" Jane asked.
"Stop she will tell you." Esme spoke.
"I don't know, Riley didn't tell us, it wasn't safe for us to think." The young vampire spoke.
"Her name was Victoria, maybe you knew her?" Edward said, and Adeline looked at Alec who avoided eye contact now.
"Edward, if the Volturi had known about Victoria they would have stopped her. Right Jane?" Carlisle asked.
"Of course." Jane answered.
"Felix." Jane said and Felix stepped forward.
"She didn't know what she was doing. We're responsible for her. Give her a chance." Esme spoke and Felix stopped.
"The Volturi don't give second chances. Keep that in mind. Caius will be interested to know that she's still human." Jane said pointing at Bella who boldly spoke up. "The date is set." Jane glared at Bella.
"Take care of that, Felix. I'd like to go home." Jane said and Felix walked over to the young newborn.
Adeline watched him knock the girl's head off the body and turned her gaze towards the trio who were about to walk away.
"Alec." She said out loud and felt her family's eyes on her now. "You can go I want to talk to him." Adeline spoke looking at Carlisle who nodded and the Cullens left.
Alec turned to look at Jane and then at Adeline. "I want to have a word with you alone." She spoke and glanced at Jane who motioned Demetri and Felix with her.
Adeline and Alec were left alone and she stared at her feet, feeling Alec eyeing on her curiously. "I'm really mad at you but also curious and disappointed." She started by looking up into his eyes, which narrowed questioningly.
"Why didn't you say a word?" Alec's expression was blankly and he opened his mouth. "Jane told you we don't know about it." He spoke and Adeline stared at him.
"I'm not talking about that!" She exclaimed and Alec frowned.
"You lie, you knew about them and didn't stop them. I was fighting and could have died with my family!" She yelled and Alec blinked. "They are right you are a power and strength minded witch twin who enjoys torturing other vampires."
She didn't have time to blink when her back was against the tree and Alec was staring angrily into her eyes. Adeline laughed a little. "I guess I hit the right spot." She said and Alec tightened his hand around her throat.
"Now you watch your tongue..."
"Or what huh? You took my senses away from me...wouldn't be the first time." Adeline said and Alec tilted his head, scrutinizing her eyes and she looked him straight in the eye.
"Everything went dark, and I felt like I was on fire, a burning pain spreading through my body. The words I heard were 'breathe.' It was the most beautiful voice I've ever heard, like an angel was by my side. Then everything went dark but my body was no longer on fire, I didn't feel anything." Adeline spoke and Alec's eyes held many emotions in that moment.
His expression trembled and Adeline saw the gloom disappear from his expressionless face and it turned into a softness that she have not seen on his face.
