Hey
Hi
Y/n are you busy?
Not really, why?
The can we meet up?
Um, okay.
Thanks!
Address: xxx
A bitter chuckle escaped me as I pondered the irony of meeting up with the guy I genuinely had feelings for, only for him to want to discuss my best friend, Mina. This wasn't my first rodeo, though. Plenty of guys had approached me in the past just to inquire about Mina, but Jungkook... he felt different.
Usually, when random guys popped up, it felt like they were all about adoring her. But for the first time, jealousy reared its head, and it was all because of her.
A girl being jealous of her best friend because of a guy sounded like a scene ripped from an old cliché movie, didn't it?
After a warm shower, I slipped into a basic ensemble of ripped jeans, a plain white shirt, and white Converse. My hair cascaded loosely, and minimal makeup adorned my face - not that I cared much about looking pretty.
When I was ready to go, I checked myself in the mirror one last time.
Arriving at the address Jungkook provided, I found a charming café. Despite its size, the ambiance was inviting, filled with the alluring scents of freshly baked desserts and roasted coffee beans, luring passersby.
Jungkook wasn't in sight, so I took a seat, scanning the bustling street through the large glass window.
A couple shared a kiss in the middle of the street, children ran around, and an elderly couple strolled arm in arm. Unconsciously, I smiled at the elderly pair, "Nice guys are really hard to find these days."
I want someone who could love me for who I am, someone to call mine. I want to marry him, make love, have kids and spend the rest of our life together.
"Y/N," a voice interrupted my thoughts. I shifted my attention towards the guy standing in front of me, smiling endearingly.
"Sorry for being late... Did you wait too long?" he asked apologetically.
"No, it's fine," I reassured him with a smile.
Then we ordered some caffeine and desserts before diving back into conversation.
"Sorry for putting you on the spot," he said, scratching the back of his neck.
"No worries. I agreed to help, so don't stress about it."
"Are you sure?" He asked again, and I hummed in response.
"Then could you please tell me more about Mina? I want to know more about her before I confront her," he asked, making me gulp. His excitement at the mention of her name sent a pang through my heart.
I couldn't spill Mina's personal details just because he asked. True friends don't do that. Even if the person asking is Jungkook.
"I'm willing to help, but I won't give away her personal information without her consent," I said, awkwardly smiling. His face fell, but he persisted.
"I swear I'm not a crappy guy, believe me!" I could sense the sincerity in Jungkook's plea. Deep down, I knew he was a genuinely good guy. It wasn't just a gut feeling; it was evident from the first time we crossed paths. The way he didn't hesitate to stand by me against those intimidating guys, despite his own fears, spoke volumes about his character. I could see it, acknowledge it, but expressing it aloud? That was a step I wasn't quite ready to take.
"I know, but still, she's my best friend. I don't want to do something that might end up hurting her," I said.
"I promise I'm not up to anything weird. I really love her," he pleaded. My throat burned, tears welled up in my eyes as I looked down before responding, "Fine, what do you want to know?"
"The type of guys she's into? I want to change my style to match hers," he said, and though I couldn't see his face, I could imagine the stars in his eyes.
"I don't know much, but the guys she dated had a bad-boy kinda vibe, you know... tattoos, piercings, and all that," I replied genuinely.
"Really? Thank God. I was worried a lot about this; I thought I needed to change my style completely because, you know, she had this very girly, soft kinda vibe so... yeah," he said with a relieved smile, prompting one in return from me.
Before he could delve into another query, the gentle cadence of a familiar voice interrupted our conversation. The syllables of my name floated through the air, drawing my attention away from Jungkook. "Y/N?" The voice held a mix of curiosity and recognition, and as I turned toward the source, I found myself locking eyes with someone unexpected.
