"No no no no no, HOBIE!" I hear Phantom scream. He runs to Hobie, kneeling down to him. His hands quickly remove the damned sharp glider from his stomach only to make more blood come out. Hands start to hover over his body in panic, as if not knowing where to start. "You idiot, I told you to stay down." Phan cries. I'm just standing here. Frozen.
What should I do? Do I run to them? Do I fight Goblin?
I'm.. I'm scared.

"Good riddens. One less spider person to worry about." I hear Goblin laugh in pain and pride. I know what I need to do now.
"Are you sure?" Venom speaks. Usually we share control of my body, but I'm tired. I only want one thing right now as I let Venom's true form show.
"I'm sure.." I speak ever so quietly in the black void that is my alien companion.
"Copy" In second Venom grabs Green Goblin suspending him in the air, ripping his mask off. "Wha- What are you doing?" I hear the panic in his voice as he quickly realizes his fate.
"S-Spiderman doesn't kill people. You're supposed to be a hero!" "We are not spiderman.. We are Venom." There was screaming for a second, then the only thing I could hear was the sound of Phantoms crying. They were followed with the sound of another body dropping to the floor. This time, it was a headless Green Goblin tainting the concrete with his blood.

"Birdie." Hobies Voice snaps me out of whatever anger fueled trance I was in. Venoms form slowly starts to disappear into my body and show my normal clothes as I run to him. There was a pool of blood forming, Phantom's hands stained with it from trying to stop the bleeding.  "Mate.." I have to force myself to look at Hobie's face and not his injuries. Trying to accept whatever time he has left. "Keep fightin for the people, yeah?" All I can do is look at him with tears rolling down my face.

"You promised you wouldn't leave anytime soon. You're gonna be fine alright. We-we'll take you back home and patch you up." Phantom says in distress. "Mate I love ya but don't be stupid. I'm dyin, and that's ok." His bloody hand  grabs mine and he gives both Phantom and I three quick squeezes before continuing. "I love you both, so much. Ya both have given me the best years since I came here. Promise me.. ya won't give up..." Phantom mutters a promise and as Hobie's fading brown eyes turn to me, all I can do is give a nonverbal promise while nodding my head yes. "Good. You two.. Look after each other alright?" I can feel his grip fading accompanied with the sound of sirens coming closer. "You'll both make it through this... Promise..."

It's funny, ya know? How we take life for granted. I hear people go up to the podium. Talking about the Hobie they knew, but they didn't really know him. Now one knew our Hobie, just the face he showed people. Phantom had to drag me away from his body that day.
The police couldn't know who we were and we couldn't take him with us. Better for them to think he was a hero who got rid of one of the biggest villains than just some other punk dead in an alleyway.
And now we're here. In a stupid church, with stupid people who didn't know shit about him, and a stupid photo by his cold body reminding us of the person we will never see smile again.
No more late night talks, no more dumb races, no more flirty comments.
No more Hobie Brown.

That night it was as if mother nature mourned with us. Pouring rain drops as both Phantom and I ran to the only place we could.

"Mijo.. what happened?" We both stood outside our mothers house. Phantom had thrown a hoodie and sweatpants over his costume, and Venom was staying dormant in my body. "Mami" My voice cracks as my legs finally give out. I cry and Phantom joins me until our mother drags us out of the rain and onto the couch. She was watching the news but it was only white noise to us as we held each other. Mami had gone to make some tea and by the time she came back, what I had been dreading appeared on TV.
Hobie Brown, also known as Spider Punk, is confirmed dead after defeating the villain known as Green Goblin.
Ever since then.. It's like I've been living on autopilot.
Nothing can ever be the same. Not without him.

The only reason we are even having this funeral is because of my mom. Speaking of.. "Mijo, I think you should say a few words. It might help?" I didn't even realize that my legs had brought me up to the podium. The people that filled this place weren't family or friends, they were fans. Fake ones that only liked Spider Punk because he "killed" Goblin.
Putting both my hands on the podium I did my best to let out even a squeak.
"I.." The mic makes a ringing noise that makes everyone recoil, including myself. I take a deep breath in.. and out. "H-hobie is..was.. One of my best friends. He cared for his community. Did his best to help where he could." I can feel my throat tighten and tears threaten to escape. "Hobie knew.. that with great power comes great responsibility..." I looked up and spotted Phantom at the entrance of the church. I didn't even know he was here, he said he wouldn't come. Both Phantom and I wore one of Hobie's bracelets along with our black suits.
"And we promise.. to keep your legacy alive.
But he wasn't just Spider Punk to me. He was.. Everything. Every cozy rainy summer night. He was my favorite song and dancing for no reason under the moonlight. I don't know what to do without him."
I ended my mini speech and was left in silence. Getting off of the podium I stormed to the entrance. Phantom had been long gone as I kept running to be alone.
Hobie.. You idiot! Why didn't you just stay down? I could have handled it. It could have been you that survived instead of me. It's all my fault. If I had been faster, stronger, smarter!

I stopped running, my lungs burning as I tried to catch my breath. I was in a park all alone.
"I can't do it without you" I choked out.  I screamed and cried on my knees. I cried for what felt like hours until I passed out.
Finally, everything was quiet.
