"So I was thinking that maybe we could go out sometime?"
Typical. Another individual breaking their pact and falling for me. I sighed in exasperation, not being surprised of the newly lost "friend".
"Look, I'm flattered, really. But we started out as friends. And that's how we'll end."
He scratched his head. "You really are a tough person to crack."
"Well. I am Chris, after all."

As I joined the only two consistent friends I had, I overheard them talking.

"He's so hot"
"Not as hot as me though"
"Shut the fuck up Dj"

"Language", I smirked intervening from behind, "am i interrupting something?"
"Only our conversation about the hottest guy on campus!"
"Second* hottest"
"Dj!"
"Sorry, sorry"
I rolled my eyes, "So who is he?"
And in the most cliche way possible, a tall guy, about 6 feet, stood in the doorway of the cafe. His basketball shorts hung dangerously low, threatening to show his V-line. His hair was somewhere between the mix of brown and red of which I was extremely confused of. I couldn't see his eye color though. Not from afar.
"He's so dreamy" Melanie sang.
"Snap out of it", Dj said, "and focus on me" He winked, but Melanie's eyes were on the new guy. Dj caught onto that and only attacked his croissant even harder.
I mean, yeah he was nice eye candy. But they all are. And they're all boring too.
"I heard that he's not a player", Mel carried on, "He hasn't dated in months, maybe even years"
"Cool"
"Rad", Dj joined in.
We smiled cheekily at each other.
Then suddenly, everyone's eyes were on us. I didn't understand it, until I heard a smooth melodic voice behind me.
"Are you Christabelle Oaks?"
"Chris", I placed my head onto my palm in annoyance, "My name is Chris"
"Yeah" He feigned interest, "Nice. Anyway, I wanted to meet my new roommate. Not really though. I was somewhat forced" He ran a hand through his hair. "Restart, eh? Hello Chris. I'm Jay"

"Oh, so you get to know my full name but I don't get to know yours?" No, I was not flirting. I was simply stirred by the unnecessary emphasizes he put onto my name and the effortless greeting.
"You just did. My name. Is literally. Jay."
"Mhm. Cool."
"Pleasure meeting you Christabelle"
"Chris"
"Does it look like I care?" And with that he walked off.

"Aren't you such a kind spirit" Mel winked.
"I try" and I winked back.
