The Xavier School For Gifted Youngsters
16 year old Jean Grey was a peculiar young girl, quiet, withdrawn, never quite fitting in with any of the usual cliques growing up, you could say even before her mutant abilities manifested she was different.
But of course those abilities reared the two sided coin that is being a mutant, In Jeans case it was an extremely volatile two sided coin; the lack of control creating a clear danger to the ones around her
That's why she was sent here, to Charles Xavier.
And his X-men
The first day was not on the forefront of Jeans mind, her psych riddled with a mix of confusion and sadness over being suddenly uplifted from everything she had ever known and now residing in an oddly quiet school
She had only met 3 of the 4 other students.
Hank Mccoy, a highly intelligent young adult born with abnormally large hands and feet
Warren Worthington III, a nepotism baby who grew wings similar to an Angel
And Bobby Drake, the youngest of the three with the unique mutation that allowed him to manipulate ice
There was one more student, but she hadn't met him yet.
At least with all the uncertainty of this move it was a nice day outside, perhaps nice enough for a walk?
Jean Grey stepped out onto the freshly cut grass, she walked in short strides with an aura of elegance to a nearby tree, finding it big enough to provide shade she took refuge under its sizeable trunk and then comfort in a small paperback
KZZRT!
The sudden loud noise took Jean off guard, raising her head she saw the familiar Charles Xavier with a boy she had not met, Charles seemed to be aiding him in some sort of practice
"You hit 7 out of the 9 targets that's a good improvement my dear boy." The Professor offered a rewarding smile
"It's nothing to celebrate professor i failed still failed my task." He didn't see it that way, there was only room for absolutes
"That sort of mindset won't get you- The Professor stopped; noticing Jean observing from afar "You seem to have an admirer, Jean please may you join us?" Xavier requested
Jean slowly closed her book and skeptically made her way over
"I do not believe you two have met before." The Professor began
"This is Scott Summers, the first ever student i had the pleasure of teaching, Scott has resided here for the past 5 years and is your age."
"Pleasure to meet you." Scott awkwardly raised his arm for a stiff handshake
Jean looked down at his hand and back up at him before nervously shaking it "I-I'm Jean, it's nice to meet you too!"
"Scott perhaps you could get Jean more acquainted to daily life here?" The Professor suggested
Scott shot him a glance behind his visor before turning his eyesight back to her "I guess i could do that, follow me." Scott started at an uncomfortably fast walking pace
"So what do you do for fun around here?" Jean broke the initial awkward silence
Scott pondered what she said "I don't have time for fun, If i am not training i am learning, if i am not learning i am training."
"Training? For what?" Jean tilted her head, perplexed by what he had just said
A small smirk rose on his usually stoic face "You'll see." Scott turned his attention back to giving her a tour with minimal conversation
Jean took notice of this, she felt an odd fascination with Scott, feeling like this distance was nothing more than a defence mechanism "..What is your mutation?"
"Hm?" Scott stopped, caught off guard by the question
"What ability did your mutation give you?" Jean was genuinely curious
"I..My eyes draw from a universe of infinite and pure concussive energy which through this visor i can focus into blasts, i can't control it so i wear ruby quartz sunglasses."
"So do you just?-
"Yes i see the world in red."
"..Four eyes." Jean teased in a soft voice
"Did you just call me four eyes?" Scott couldn't help but chuckle
"Maybe." Jean giggled, moving closer to him,her head very close to his shoulder
"I think we're going to get along just fine Jean"
