How to kill a Scotsman
Chapter five
My heart beat rapidly as I stared into the eyes of a monster, my eyes glued to the screen of the television. I subconsciously clutched James hand and squeezed it tight, my heart accelerating faster by the minute. I soon realised what I had done and went to take my hand from his, but he soon clutched it back and gave it a gentle squeeze. I blushed and hoped he wouldn’t see the scarlet tinge on my cheeks. Suddenly a singed woman jumped out behind the door on the television and my whole body shook from fright, I let out a strangled scream as did Leah and gasped when the lights were suddenly turned on. Me, Leah and James head's shot in the direction of the culprit and Jake smirked back at us, an amused look on his face.
“Remind me never again to buy a horror movie when we have you two round” He said and plopped back down next to Leah. He shook his head and laughed while me and Leah scowled at him.
“Oh, so you don’t like it when I cuddle up to you in the middle of a scary movie then ?” Leah asked him with a raised eyebrow, I chuckled and instantly stopped when I saw James staring at me with a knowing look on his face. I glared at him.
“Ah touché” Jake commented and took Leah's hand. Leah smiled at him and rested her head on his shoulder.
“Love is in the air...” James sang. I laughed, trying to cover up my awe, he was such an amazing singer.
I saw Jake yawn and stretch his arm casually around Leah's shoulders and hit James in the back of the head. I immediately burst out laughing at James' shocked expression. Leah blushed when Jake didn't remove his arm. They were getting a little to close for comfort.
“I know!” I suddenly screamed, an imaginary light bulb pinging at the top of my head.
“Let's play dares” I said, a plan forming in my head. I was going to make this night Leah's most memorable night ever.
“Yeah !” Leah said, knowing where I was going with this. “I'll go get Jason” she said and rushed off to go find him.
“So...” I said awkwardly as both boy's looked at me.
“So...” James and Jake replied in unison. I laughed and watched both guy's look at me, James with utter interest, and Jake with a sort of blaze amusement. I averted my gaze and shifted uncomfortably, suddenly self conscious with my idol only sat a few centimetres from me.
“What the hell, you man whore, cover your self up!” Leah screamed in a shrill voice from the floor below us. By the sounds of it, Jason and Sarah were probably doing something horrifying, I could just imagine Leah trying to peel her eye's out. We all burst out laughing at the same time and I wiped my eyes, trying to keep them from watering.
“Well, what do you want, we are kind of busy?” We heard Jason's muffled reply in his fail of a 'cool' voice. I shushed both James and Jake so I could hear the rest of the conversation.
“We were wondering whether you would like to come down and play dares” Leah said and short after a door closed. I don't blame her, no one would want to see her brother half naked. Trust me, I had the unfortunate event of seeing him like that. Twice. Ugh.
“Yeah we'll come down in a second, we have unfinished business to attend to” Jason shouted trying to be heard now that the door was closed. I made a disgusted face while Leah made her way back upstairs, James and Jake both laughed at me and I stuck my tongue out at both of them, just to prove how childish I was.
“GROSS! That's not what a sister wants to see of her brother!” Leah screamed as she burst through the door and ran to Jake, giving him a hug like her life depended on it.
