May is sitting at her kitchen table enjoying her specialty, warm chocolate milk. It is a serene winter dawn. She remembers 8 years ago today when she was placed in an orphanage by her parents. May couldn't believe that her parents did away with her. Well, she could. They were never the kind parents one expects. May is the 5th child and only girl. Her family, you could say, was pretty big on the traditional notion that sons were worth more than daughters. And it didn't help May's cause that she suffered from epilepsy. All by all she had become legally an orphan. Since her arrival, May didn't want to get out of her room. She couldn't get along with any of the children in the orphanage. On her first day a girl put a handful of snow under her shirt, she was laughed at when she introduced herself to her classmates and told how ugly she was by others. It was not like this was all new. Everywhere she went to, May, experienced bullying. She didn't know what it was that made her the target of the bullies, perhaps because of her ugliness. Who knows. But from now on, she didn't have to ever worry about bullying. She owns her own house, a car, and has a stable income all at the age of 21. There was nothing else May could ask for. Her life is peaceful and that is how she prefers to keep it. But little did she comprehend what awaited her.
