CHAPTER 18

HER

"Hey, do you wanna come to my brother's graduation party?"

Napatigil ako doon... looking back at Jun. We're currently at the club... or rather, pumunta ako ng club since I felt like drinking my woes today, and surprisingly narito rin si Jun– well it wasn't really surprising to see him since he does work here.

I took a sip from my glass of vodka, feeling my insides buzz as I stared questioningly at Jun...

"Why would you invite me?" He stared back at me as if I just asked him a ridiculous question, binalikan ko rin siya ng tingin as if challenging him. He lets out a sigh and gives me a panned look.

"Because I wanted to? Bakit, ayaw mo ba pumunta?" I narrowed my eyes at him and he stared back, waiting for my answer, which made me sigh, giving up.

"Hm, I'll see if I can." That seemed to make him happy, as his eyes literally lit up and a wide smile plastered on his face.

"Yown, punta ka ah. I'll introduce you to my brothers, as a friend syempre." Sabi niya tsaka tumawa ng malakas.

"Happy ka na nyan?" I told him, rolling my eyes.

"Hala tampo yan? Ano gusto mo, papakilala kitang ka fwb ko?"

"Tangina mo, hindi nalang ako pupunta."

"Luh, pikonin. Joke lang yun, ito naman si Peach di talaga ma-biro."

"Wag mo'ko binibiro-biro ng ganyan."

I rolled my eyes and moved away from where I was sitting, transferring to a seat right at the corner of the counter, far from Jun. Hindi naman siya kaagad nakalapit sa akin, dahil tinawag siya ng kanyang ka-trabaho.

While he was away, I decided to finish my drink and go to the restroom to sober up. Pagbalik ko, I found Jun, looking tense as his eyes darted the room. My brow raised as I approached my previous seat.

"What's wrong with you?" His head snapped towards my direction, looking relieved as ever.

"Akala ko kasi may nangyari, kaya ka nawala... good thing you're back." I let out an incredulous chuckle, shaking my head.

"Are you really that worried about me?" He seemed to be taken aback with my question, but soon faded as he looked at me with disbelief.

"Syempre, Shannen, umalis ka lang kasi ng biglaan, eh delikado pa naman minsan yung mga tao dito tapos ka-babae mo pang tao."

This time ako naman yung nabigla sa sinabi niya.

As far as I've known this guy, minsan lang 'to nag-seryoso at siya yung tipo na tao, na palagi kang aasarin o lalandiin o di kaya'y both. But this...? Like every time he shows genuine concern parang... umiiba yung katauhan niya... it's honestly making me confused and I don't know why but I just feel something weird inside my chest. I decided to respond in a way that I only know wouldn't make this seem awkward.

"Aww~ I'm flattered babe." I cooed at him, making him roll his eyes and letting out a sigh... napatawa nalang ako.

"Anyway, uuwi ka na ba ngayon? Or mamaya pa?" Tanong niya, changing the topic.

I checked my watch and deemed that it was still early to go home, so I shook my head in response.

"Mamaya pa, bakit? Pinapauwi mo na ba ako Jun?"

"No, hihintayin mo ko, sabay tayo uuwi. I'll be out in thirty minutes naman." Sabi niya before going back to work, excusing himself and serving the other customers.
