"Thank goodness for Christmas break," sighed Carter, as we both cuddled close to each other on the couch, drinking apple cider and watching dumb Christmas cartoons.

"Thank Jesus," I said, smirking wittily.

"Truth be told," he chuckled. "Thank you Jesus!" He raised his hands to the air in prayer.

I giggled at how cute he was and I leaned my head on his shoulder.

"Hey," he said, sitting up. "I know it's not quite Christmas yet, but I can't wait any longer to give this to you..."

I looked up at him as he pulled out a small, black box from his jean's pocket.

"...And I know that you'd rather receive love than gifts, but..." He blushed and stuttered nervously. "...I hope that by getting this from me you'll realize how much I love you and how much you mean to me."

At first, being that there was a small black box that looked like could hold a ring inside, I thought he was purposing to me. I almost cried, "Carter, we're only 16!"

But then, he opened the box, and instead of a ring, there was a silver necklace with a small, beautiful, turquoise sapphire shaped like a heart in the center.

"Carter," I gasped at its beauty. "This is gorgeous, but this is so expensive! You didn't have to do this..."

"I know I didn't have to," he said. "I wanted to."

"Thank you," I said, looking up into his eyes, which were more gorgeous than the necklace. "This really means a lot to me."

"You're welcome," he beamed. "I'll do anything for my girl."

I smiled at him and I planted a kiss on his cheek.

He blushed even more. "Merry Christmas, Saige," he whispered.

"Merry Christmas, Carter."
