"Ion know what's wrong with her. She ain't smiled all day."
"Baby Girl, what's wrong?" I asked my question because I wanted to know why she was so upset.
I watched as she blinked twice before looking at all the stuff sprawled across the table in front of her, and then she looked over at me, "Yes, Kentrell?" I approached her, "Baby girl, what's wrong?" I asked again, speaking directly into her face. "Nothing," she wrapped herself around me, keeping me close, "Sorry for making you worry."
Later on that day
I woke up to a light noise playing somewhat close to my ear. I opened my eyes and realized that the TV was on and the baby girl was humming the theme song of the show that was playing. "You like this show?" I glanced up at her as the show went on commercial, and she hummed. I snuggled up to her and went back to sleep. Now that I know I'm not alone, I can sleep comfortably.
It was now just about 6 in the evening, and I was standing in the kitchen munching on some snacks as my food was warming in the microwave. As I was chewing the last of my chocolate, I turned to the beeping of my food, and as I turned to the counter with my plate in hand, I saw Ben taking a seat across from me. I was surprised to see him, and I voiced as much,
"Hey, when did you get here?"
Ben shrugged, "When you were sleeping, but I had left earlier, and I just got back. I came in when your back was turned." he explained as I mixed my food before taking a bite.
"You fell asleep to the TV, too? I do the same thing." Ben asked, and for some reason, when he did, I was perplexed because, no, I didn't fall asleep alone. He continued talking. I leaned up and glanced forward, looking at the couch; from what I could see, it was empty.I didn't want to alert Ten, so I subtly asked, "You seen baby girl upstairs when you came in?" But he shook his head. I took one more bite of my food, shoving it across the countertop and giving the plate to Ben. Forgetting about hiding my current concern, " So where could she be, then?" but before I could make my way up the stairs, with a mouthful, Ben answered my outcry,
"With Joe, as always."
