20XX/05/12:

"L/N Y/N, You are being charged with two cases of assault and battery, assault with a deadly weapon, grand theft auto, reckless driving, and murder. How do you plead?" You heard as the judge laid out your conviction. With a deep breath and a calm stare at the judge, you spoke.

"Guilty, your honor."

"Then I hereby sentence you to life in prison." the judge stated before striking the gavel. The sound of it hitting echoed through your body, and you stared blankly out into the world, wondering what led you here to this moment. You did so much in such a little time. It felt like life was replaying right in front of you.

20XX/03/01:

"Come on, dude, I just need a bit of money; I promise you, I'll pay you back." Your best friend pesters you as you're washing your motorcycle.

"Yeah? How many times have I heard that phrase before from you?" you asked while glancing back at him, but he avoided your eyes. "Since we were in middle school!" you shouted, followed by a small laugh.

"Okay, then, how about hooking me up with some work? I'm desperate, Y/N!" He begs more, and you shake your head in disbelief, and you know exactly why he is asking.

"Did you get yourself into debt again?" you asked him in a serious tone. He stayed quiet, which means you were right. I picked up a sponge from the bucket and threw it at him. "Randy! What is wrong with you? You just got free of debt last month, and now you're back to square one??" You yelled at him, getting angry as you spoke. "The money from the last job was supposed to last you until at least next month, and you blew it all already?" You cornered him against the wall next to your garage and stared down at him.

"I'm sorry, I got carried away one night and forgot rent was due that week," he said timidly, "and-"

"AND?! There's an "and" to this too??" You exploded at him to the point where you had to walk away. "What's this "and"?" you asked him while walking back towards your bike. You waited, but he stayed quiet. "You borrowed money from someone else, didn't you?" You said it with more rage building up, and he nodded. "From who? You didn't go back to that shady prick, T.K., did you?" He shook his head.

'This asshole'

"He was from some big guy I met at a nightclub." He finally spoke up, and you stared at him as he walked towards you. "He said he'd lend me the money as long as I paid him back in full within the month."

"How long ago was that?"

"It's a little over a week; I spent it on rent so that I and Minjeong don't get evicted." You squint your eyes while rubbing your forehead to figure out how this guy is your best friend. When you open your eyes again, he's kneeling on the ground, bowing in front of you.

"Please, Hyung, please help me out again," he said. The sight of him bowing to you was embarrassing. You tried to get him up, but he would budge.

"Aish! Fine! I'll lend you money; just get up; other people live in this neighborhood." You reluctantly agreed, and he slowly stood off the ground.

"Thank you, Hyung," he said, sincerely bowing to you once more, but you were still pissed off at him.

"Just wait here; I'll come back and finish washing my bike while you're at it," you told him before walking into your house. You live in a decent home for your age, with plenty of room for one plus a garage for your bikes. It's nothing luxurious, but it's home and a home you worked hard for. Walking into your office and pulling out your shelf, revealing a safe behind it, turning the combination to open the box, and pulling out one of the many stacks of cash you keep hidden. Closing it and pushing back your shelf, you headed back outside to your unbelievable friend.

"Here!" you shouted, tossing him the stack of cash. "That should be enough to pay back those pricks borrowed from." He ran his thumb through the stack and was surprised that you had this on hand. "Why the surprised look? This is what happens; you learn to save and invest wisely," you lectured him.

"Thank you so much, Hyung. I couldn't be here without you," he said, and you ticked at him.

"You wouldn't be here at all if it wasn't for me." You corrected him, and he chuckled at your comment. "You've been broke for a couple of days, huh?" You asked, and he looked at you disgustedly.

"No, I've had enough to make sure that Minjeong has food and school," he stated proudly, and you sarcastically clapped your hands.

"Wow, such a good brother." You said it with a thick, sarcastic tone, and his smile dropped. "What'd you do for her birthday?"

"Birthday?" he asked. There was a silent pause before, and without thought, you took off your sandal and started smacking him.

"YA! YOU DIDN'T REMEMBER YOUR OWN SISTER BIRTHDAY, YOU ASSHOLE!" You shouted as he tried to run away.

"YA YA, OF COURSE, I REMEMBER I TOLD HER WE'LL CELEBRATE WHEN I GET PAID AGAIN!" throwing the sandal, you struck him in the head with a loud smack sound. in disbelief once again to scratch your head and signal him over.

"Come over here; bring my sandal too," you said while trying to calm yourself down. He waddled over to you carrying your sandal, and all you could do was just shake your head at him and snatch the sandals back. You were tempted to smack him again, but a cop car drove by at that moment. You stare at them as they drive by, and they do the same to you.

'ugh, cops.'

You turned back to your friend, and he looked like a mess. Putting your sandal back on and reaching into your back pocket, you grab your wallet and pull out some large bills handed to your friend.

"Use this for her birthday tonight. Cake, candles, and food. No booze, no cigs, no nothing that doesn't involve a girl's birthday." You said it in a serious tone, like the one you would use for your work.

"What about balloons?" he asked stupidly.

'aish'

"Yes, balloons too." and he nodded. "Tonight. I'll be coming by later."

"Oh, you're coming?" He asked, surprised, "You're usually so busy you can never make it to any of these, not even your own birthday."

"Well, tonight is an exception... and an inspection." You stare sharply into his eye.

"why?"

"Well, you know, to make sure you don't screw up again."

"Oh, since you're coming over and I use one of your bikes?"

"What's wrong with yours?" you asked, confused.

"Nothing. it works fine."

"Then no... wtf?" You looked at him and frowned. "Now go pay back those pricks and get your sister her birthday stuff." Pointing for him to leave, he bowed to you before getting on his bike and riding away.

'He's unbelievable.'

Taking a deep breath, you went back to cleaning your bike and drying it off before heading into your house to get ready for later tonight. You step into the shower to clean off, and as the water follows, a feeling of uneasiness washes over you like the water, but this was not a new feeling to you, so you thought little of it. But maybe you should've...
