It was past midnight, and Samantha was sound asleep in her bedroom. That was, until she started breathing heavily and mumbling words every other minute.. She started twisting and turning in bed and it didn't take long before she woke up with a loud gasp. She was sweating as if she'd just came back from running a marathon. It took her a good amount of deep breaths to calm down. She was still shivering.
"Another nightmare... " she sighed. "Why did it have to be the 13th out of all the goddamn days" she ran her fingers through her hair as she glanced at the clock on her bedside table. It was the 13th of June, and also her birthday. And the worst thing was, that she was all alone at her house. Her mom, dad and elder brother had left day before yesterday due to a family emergency. Sam couldn't leave since she had an important exam the next day. She didn't realize when her cheeks got wet with her tears. She cried her heart out...
Her nightmares began a couple of years ago. When she moved into this house with her family. And you guessed it right. Samantha being the stupid girl she is, never told anyone at home. But she did have a pretty good reason. Or atleast that's what she thought. Her mom and dad worked really hard for the family. And this house was their dream home. They always wanted a beautiful house in London that they could call their own. And two years ago, when they finally bought it, Samantha had never seen them happier. But they were a little paranoid. 5 years ago, they had to move out urgently due to a dispute with their landlord and her parents turned down the only other house they could find because the previous tenants were murdered. Well, they were involved in a crime scene so it's not really a big deal... right? Because that's what Samantha thought. She didn't want to ruin their happiness because she sure as hell knew they'd move out immediately if she told them that she's been having horrifying nightmares ever since she's moved into this house.
Well, it was the same nightmare over and over again. And the strange thing was, she always had them on the 13th of every month. In those nightmares, she found herself in an unfamiliar place running from something and sneaking glances behind her every now and then. And she always stumbled on a dead body but could never remember the face when she woke up. After getting up she screamed and ran towards the left since there was no right. Suddenly she realized something that made her stop running and turn around. She was greeted by deafening silence. She took in a shaky breath and before she could let it out, she heard something fall behind her. She started turning around slowly... And just when she's about to completely turn around and look behind, she always woke up. She never saw what fell behind her...Regardless of her horrifying nightmares, she still had a tiny sense of relief because the place she saw in her nightmares looked nothing even close to the house that she lived in.
Suddenly, her stomach growled making her realize that skipping dinner wasn't actually a great idea. She shook her head as she sighed and got up. She dragged her exhausted self to the kitchen and flicked the light on. Then she made herself a ham and cheese sandwich and poured herself some orange juice. She sat at her dining table and half heartedly nibbled on her sandwich. "What a great way to start off my birthday." she scoffed as she grabbed her juice and took a sip of it. "GOD. WHY DOES IT HAVE TO BE ME??????? AM I FUCKING POSSESSED OR SOMETHING!? I AM SO DONE WITH MY PATHETI-" she flinched as she was cut off by the sound of shattering glass. She got up with wide eyes and made her way towards the store room. She didn't forget to grab a knife from the kitchen on her way. She'd be lying if she said she wasn't scared. She murmured a lil prayer before entering the store room cautiously hoping it'll help, which was funny considering the fact that she had absolutely no idea what fate had in (the) store (room) for her ;)
