Maybe I shouldn't have left her there. I contemplate with myself as I park on the side of the road. I've been here for half an hour and I can't seem to drive home.

Something's pulling me back there but my mind's telling me to just shake it off and mind my own business. I decide to drive home but find myself driving back to where I left her.

It's not safe and it's late, I can't just leave her there. If anything happens to her, I'll be the one to blame. My eyes scan around for her figure but avail to nothing.

I get out of the car, walking to the side I left her at. I frown, prior to not seeing her. Just as I'm about to return to my car, my gaze settles upon a body, lying on the side of the road.

I pick up my pace, my jaw and fist's clenched as I approach the body. I lean down, moving her braids to the side of her face.

Fuck.

My arms immediately swoop under her body, picking her up. Her temperature's very low and her pules is faint. I carefully place her into the car, turning on the heater and drive straight to my house.

I park outside the garage and carry her into the house. I gently place her on my bed before pulling out my phone. 06:00, the time read.

I dial a number and place the phone against my ear, impatiently waiting as it rings. Just as I'm about to hang up, it's answered.

Gogo:
Samkelo? Ufunani ekuseni kangaka?

Me:
Gogo, what am I supposed to do when someone faints?

Gogo:
Ukhuluma ngani manje? Ukuphi? Wenzeni Samkelo? Should I be worried?

Me:
I don't know what's wrong with her, she's unconscious and barley breathing.

Gogo:
I'm on my way, just make sure she's warm.

She hangs up and I toss my phone aside. My gaze settles upon her her body, her temperature's slowly picking up but her pulse is still the same.

My hand reaches to touch her but the doorbell rings, stopping my movement. I make my way downstairs and open the front door.

"Where is she?" That's the first thing that leaves her mouth. "Sawubona nakuwe Gogo" I huff out in response. "Angidlali ngawe Samkelo, where is she?" She repeats.

I lead her to my room and she shuts the door in my face. I pace around the hallway, trying to keep calm. I should've just let Sbonelo take her home. My phone rings, interrupting my thoughts.

Sbonelo:
Did you get her home safely?

Me:
Uhm...

Sbonelo:
Umenzeni? Did you hand her in? Khuluma Samkelo! Wenzeni?!

Me:
I didn't hand her in, she's just..

Sbonelo:
Just what? What did you do to her?

Me:
She'll be fine...I think.

I hang up before he can continue to pester me. "Is she okay?" I ask the second Gogo steps out of the room. "Uyenzeni leyo ntombazane Samkelo?" She folds her arms around her chest.

"Gogo..." I trail off. "She told me what happened, I just want to hear it from you" She's awake? "I left her on the side of the road, when I went back she had passed out"

"If your mother finds out about this... uzokubulala. I'm going to leave before I shoot you for your stupidity, we're living in South Africa and you want to leave her in the middle of the road, nxn." She walks past me, not giving me a chance to explain.

I cautiously open the door and step in. Her body's facing the other side as she sits up staring out the window. I notice her body shaking a bit so I turn up the heat.

"T-Take me home, please"

I walk towards over to her, she still keeps her gaze outside. "I'm sorry" I mutter out. "I don't care, just take me home. I don't want any involvement with you" Her words ring through my ears.

"Naledi, ngiyaxolisa" I place my hand on her shoulder. She shudders, anxiously removing it. "Ke kgopa onkise gae tuu" She swiftly turns around, knocking the air out of my lungs.

My hands develop mind of their own and settle on the sides of her face. "I'm sorry" I repeat. "Who are you and what do you want from me?" She glares at me. "Am I forgiven?"

"I don't think so... Can I leave?" She raises an eyebrow at me. I lean down and her hands are wrapped around my hands. I place my lips on her forehead, her grip tightens around my arms. I pull away and stare down at her.

A bright red colour coats her cheeks and ears and she quickly looks down. I hear loud footsteps approaching the room. I pull out my gun before letting go of her and walk out to check on the noise.

"Relax, it's just me. Where is she?" Sbonelo looks behind me. "Ufunani la?" I put my gun away. "I came to check up on her. Her friend's been calling her non stop" He walks past me.

She walks out of my room before I can answer him. "Sbonelo?" She frowns. "Hey, you're okay? I thought you were dead or something" He briefly hugs her.

I close my eyes for a few seconds, trying not to rip his jead from his shoulders. "Can you take me home?" She whispers, loud enough for me to hear.

"I-Uhm... It's not up to me" They both look at me. I simply ignore them, walk down to my office and shut the door. My body retreats to the chair behind my desk.

I sit down, opening my laptop and burying my head into my work. I heavily sigh while trying to focus on my work but a certain lady clouds my thoughts no matter how hard I try not to think about her.

I shut my laptop, getting up and walking towards the file situated on one of my shelves, my hands reach for it and I pick it up.

Naledi Minentle Mxenge

I need to get this girl out of my mind.
