Chapter 1: Training

"Hey, hey, Blue, look at me," I said to the Velociraptor while petting her large head through the metal muzzle restraint. "It's alright. Just stay calm, everything's going to be fine. Besides, it's the new guys fault that he almost got killed."

"I'm surprised he hasn't quit already." I rolled my eyes.

"Come on, Owen. Give him a break. I'm sure that experience gave him enough of a wake up call." I said turning around. If there's one thing I know about my big (adoptive) brother is that he takes his job very seriously. Unlike our other coworker Barry, he's very tough on everyone, including the animals.

"We are dealing with dinosaurs here, Skylar. We have to be extra careful when handling them. They're dangerous, there's no room for mistakes."

"I know, I know," I sigh.

"I'm starting to wonder weather I should let you train them." Owen said.

"What?!"

"You're a little young to be dealing with zoo animals, let alone Velociraptors." He walked up to Delta, gently patting her head, mirroring my actions.

"Hey, I can handle myself out here just fine. I've been in this as long as you have. Besides, you're my brother, shouldn't you be encouraging me?."

"I'm just saying." Owen acknowledged Barry with a slight nod. Barry tended to Echo and Charlie, the last of the velociraptors. I gave the trainer a smile.

"She is growing up. She can handle them. She's good, you know," Barry added.

"Thank you, Barry," I face Owen once again, "besides, I learned from the best." Owen chuckled.

"I am pretty good, aren't I?" He boasted.

"No, I was talking about Barry," I smirked. Now it was Barry's turn to chuckle as Owen gave me just the reaction I was looking for. "You know I'm talking about both of you."

The lovely moment was interrupted by a phone ringing, and Barry stepped away to answer it while Own and I attended to the other two raptors. A moment later, he was back.

"Dearing, says that she wants you to meet her nephews by the dock and be their guide around the park. Her assistant will be there waiting," Barry said to me.

"What? No way..." Babysitting is the last thing that I need. "Right now?"

"Their boat is supposed to arrive within the hour."

I sighed, trying to show how much I didn't want to leave.

"She said she'll pay double." I guess there were worse things she's asked of me.

"Well in that case, I love kids! See you guys later!" I turn on my heel, leaving the Dino's, Owen, and Barry behind to head to the docks.

AN: There's the first chapter! I saw the movie and I absolutely loved it, so I decided to make this. More updates to come, and please feel free to leave comments and feedback and suggestions. I might use them later on in the story.
