Felix sat there for a moment, wondering how his life had come to this. He'd fought their greatest enemy and come out of it alive, learned his mother was dead, and found his soulmates, all in less than a quarter of a day. This was a story nobody would believe if they hadn't experienced it. Felix barely believed it himself.
As Felix sat there with Chan in Hyunjin's lap and Felix's head laying in Chan's, Astraea's worried face suddenly flashed in his mind and he sat up abruptly, startling Chan so bad that the vampire involuntarily hissed at him.
"Sorry, Chan. I just- are the others okay?" Felix asked quietly, running his fingers soothingly through Chan's hair.
Hyunjin nodded with a soft smile. "They're fine. They're just waiting at the castle. I asked them to give us some space before I came over here. I knew you'd be overwhelmed."
Felix's heart squeezed and he threw his arms around Hyunjin, ignoring Chan's protesting shout. He knew how lucky he was. Even if he'd had no idea until now, he'd had his soulmates since they were children. They'd been his for their entire lives.
"I love you. I love both of you," Felix whispered, finally saying the words he'd wanted to for years even if he didn't realize it. He hugged Hyunjin as tight as he could, tears starting to stream down his face as all the emotions he'd been feeling overwhelmed him. Hyunjin laughed and hugged him back just as tight, while Chan huffed with a small smile and wrapped his arms around Felix's waist, nudging his head into the elytrian's stomach.
"We love you too, little moon," Hyunjin whispered back, a look of utmost fondness gracing his features. Chan gave them a quiet hum in agreement, unwilling to remove his head from Felix's tummy to speak. Felix just sat there, basking in the scents of his soulmates. Chan smelled like the woods with the same hint of blood that all vampires tended to have, while Hyunjin's scent was firewood, like most blazebornes, with an added hint of honeysuckle.
Felix was happier than he'd ever been in his entire life, but he knew they couldn't stay there for long. Valerian could come back at any time, and they still had to find the next clue somewhere in Caelym. It was dangerous to stay in one place for too long.
As if she read his thoughts, Hyunjin spoke softly, "What are we going to do about Valerian? He and his HATS people are going to fight us the entire way to Koreth."
Chan shook his head, finally removing himself from Felix to speak. "There's not much we can do. You saw how he was matching Felix blow for blow. If Felix can't beat him, none of us will be able to."
Felix frowned at him. "You could, Chan. With your new magic, you could really hurt him."
Chan thought about it for a second, absentmindedly running his tongue over his fangs. Licking his fangs had been a habit of Chan's since he was a child. He never realized he was doing it. "I don't know if I could. I can barely control my power."
"Do you want to experiment right now while we're alone?" Hyunjin asked softly, running his fingers soothingly through Chan's pitch black hair.
Chan smiled up at her, his eyes shining. "If that's okay with you."
Hyunjin laughed quietly. "Of course it's okay."
Hyunjin glanced over at Felix to find that the werewolf was already looking at him. They met eyes and for just a second, the elytrian got lost in his soulmate's beautiful fire eyes. Most blazebornes had shiny orange and black eyes that looked as if they were made of lava, but in Felix's very biased opinion, Hyunjin's were the prettiest.
"Go ahead, Chan. If anything goes wrong, I can fly us out of the way," Felix assured, "We'll be fine." He gestured to himself and Hyunjin, who nodded his agreement.
