The problem with cliffs is that people don't take the safety measures that come with them. And unfortunately, with a little bit of wind, they could be easily knocked off the edge, plummeted downwards and splattered onto the bays below in a mess of broken bones, skin, and blood. Then, eventually, the tide would rise and wash all remnants of them away.

But to be honest, feeling his wing holding her close to him, Davia felt safer than she ever had in her life.

"Do you come here often?" She asked him

Ibrahid turned his gaze from the pink sky to her. He shrugged, "Sometimes. Especially when I'm not doing work. Often though? Nah."

"Why so?"

"Because of work, like I said. Being captain isn't all just talk, you know."

"Mmm."

"It's very time consuming. I don't have much free time, especially when you have a lot of other archers to supervise to make sure they don't, I don't know, drop a body in the middle of the sea. Even today, I called the team off until tomorrow. They're all at home probably. Or training, which I hope they are, cause I'll test them. Do you think I should test them? I probably should... Those lazy asses hardly do anything until commands are barked at them."

As much as he loved taking the most nonsense, Davia would always listen, "Don't you worry yourself, I know you work very hard," She smiled at him.

He lifted an eyebrow, amused, "Are you seriously trying to flirt with me?"

"Maybe."

"You're a case, that's what you are, " He joked, shoving her teasingly, "I have right mind to leave you here on this cliff now"

"You wouldn't."

"Yeah, you're right, I wouldn't. Especially not you."

"Oh?" Davia was stunned, but soon masked her expression with a grin, "Who's the one flirting now?"

"I'm just saying I wouldn't push you off this cliff!"

"Oh really?"

"That's all I'm saying— it's the bare minimum."

"What about that one recruit? The one that doesn't listen to you?"

"Oh, Terisse?" He waved his hand dismissively, rolling his eyes, "I won't even think twice or look back. Straight over the edge he goes."

Davia pretended to look taken aback, "What about doing the bare minimum?"

Ibrahid fell silent for a bit, and she shuffled closer to him, gloating in her victory.

After she had that visit from Thea, she retreated home. If she could even call that place a home now her mother was gone. "Home" was where she sat down and cried, but didn't shed one tear. Her heart was broken into pieces, for she had no one left. Her mother was dead, she wanted her father dead, and her sister...

Only the heavens know where her sister is. Or was, depending on how pessimistic she was desperate to think. Sure, she easily forgot about her fathers existence, and sure, she was trying her hardest to move on from the grief she had been experiencing, but her sister was the last person she would forget, dead or alive. The house was empty now, void of her mother's loving presence.

Two days after her mother died, Davia got a visit from none other than Thea herself. She was in bed, too upset to move, and it was only after the fifth knock threatened to break down the door did she drag herself up to greet who was on the other side. She pulled open the door to meet Thea's piercing gaze on her, as if slightly irritated that it took this long to be acknowledged.
