Minato Namikaze had died. He was certain of it. He had used the reaper death seal to take the Yang Kyuubi to the Shinigami's belly with him and left the Yin half with his newborn son and died, and yet.. He was awake. Why?
“Awaken little Ninja. You didn't think you could escape my wrath that easily did you?” Purred a soft voice that was laced with venom.
His eyes shot open and he leapt to his feet except his body was no longer bipedal and he had a tail that off-balanced him and sent him stumbling back to the ground in a useless heap as he gazed up at a massive white fox who had nine red tipped tails and a red stripe on her muzzle. She was only slightly smaller than the Kyuubi at its full power and her black eyes gazed down at him with no emotion within them as she sat before him.
“You're wrath?” He decided to ask since he honestly had no idea what was happening. He had never heard of anyone ever escaping or being stolen from the Shinigami's seal. It was supposed to be a permanent death contract after all.
The massive fox grinned at him which showed off an array of viciously sharp fangs.
Which was when the Impossible happened and the fox's eyes turned into what could only be the legendary Mangekyou Sharingan which placed Minato under an immediate Genjutsu.
In the Genjutsu he saw the white fox laying side by side with the Kyuubi and pressed to the White fox's flank was a singular fox kit. It was white with red eyes and a large orange stripe down its muzzle to its tail It kept its mother's red markings but unlike its mother who had a more vulpine body it had the more monstrous appearance of its obvious kyuubi father. Minato was shocked and then horrified and then a few seconds afterwards the genjutsu ended.
“Do you understand what you have done now little ninja? You tried to take the life of my mate who fathered my kit. Since you lived your life with a pure heart and your hand was obviously forced I will give you a punishment that isn't death but in return I expect one thing.” The mother fox stated with a determined and serious look in her coal black eyes as she now glared down at him.
Knowing he didn't have a choice he nodded at the kyuubi's wife and wow he really needed to get her name.
“I want Obito Uchiha, whether he has his body or not is of no concern to me as long as I get his soul. I am not the goddess of all foxes, mate to the Kyuubi himself, for nothing after all and my ears and eyes span far and wide. He cannot hide what he has done from me. He may have the rest of you shinobi fooled but a fox always knows the truth.” The Kyuubi's wife snarled, her fangs baring and her eyes flashing their mangekyou for a second before she eased and calmed down once more.
Minato Namikaze was officially flabbergasted. Obito was dead. He knew Obito was dead. What the hell was actually going on here?
Finally getting up and forcing himself into an awkward quadruped sitting position he decided to start asking questions himself.
“How did I get here? The death reaper seal is supposed to be permanent and I know the Shinigami didn't just hand me over out of good will.” Minato stated with a glare at the massive female white nine tailed fox in front of him.
“The Shinigami has no power over my only friend, little ninja. Indra Otsutsuki son of Hagoromo Otsutsuki the sage of six paths himself and creator of the Sharingan is a foe that isn't to be messed with by anyone but Ashura. You could imagine how fearful the Shinigami became when I summoned him to help me barter for your soul.” The massive white vixen chuckled humorously.
Minato blinked. The only part of that he actually understood was that this, Indra Otsutsuki, the original creator of the Sharingan, was so terrifying that his presence had scared the Shinigami so bad that the spiritual God of Death had given up his soul without a single complaint. Which once again, horrified the hell out of Minato.
Minato shook his head. He had two more questions. First, What had Obito Uchiha done to gain a Fox summon with the same power as the strongest Bijuu's ire and secondly, What year was it? Because if Obito was alive enough to be causing problems then that meant his son was alive but it didn't say how old his son was and Minato wanted to meet his child but he also didn't want to anger the fox deity before him.
“What did Obito Uchiha do to enrage you? I was his teacher and I don't remember teaching him anything that would lead to him attacking our nation's patron animal.” Minato said simply while eying the fox cautiously.
The massive white vixen snorted and rolled her eyes before answering.
“It was not you or your teachings that failed that boy. It was his own stupidity. Listening to Black Zetsu. Becoming a pet to this world's demons. A perfect little soldier. He destroyed his own village using his family gift to control my mate and destroy his home village. Honestly, he is nothing but a monster in the true sense of the word and I would crush him within my own jaws and swallow his remains whole but I permanently retired after Indra died which bars me from returning to the land of the living, fortunately for me though. I have you to do the hard work for me.” The massive white fox summon told him with a foxy grin.
Minato was beginning to wonder if this information would ever get better as he currently felt faint and like his heart had just shattered. Obito.. Obito had sent the kyuubi to destroy the village?
“Is my son alive?” Minato decided to ask instead of the year. It was smarter anyways.
“Yes. He is alive, little ninja, He lives in Konohagakure although I will say his situation is quite saddening. Hiruzen, the current Hokage of your village, should be ashamed.” The massive white fox summon said simply.
Minato nodded. He didn't think he could feel this relieved in his life. Finally some good news. Not that Hiruzen was failing his son was good news but that Naruto was alive. Everything else could be fixed. Death wasn't something that was anywhere near as easily solved as a simple stern talk to Hiruzen Sarutobi and the idiots of the council. He would have all that fixed in a jiffy.
“Your name and when I can leave?” He asked softly as he was now antsy to get going and get his show on a road.
“Hiyuki Ugetsu, The Nine Tailed Fox Goddess of Companionship. It is nice to be formally acquainted, Minato Namikaze the Fourth Hokage of Konohagakure.” Hiyuki the massive white vixen told him.
He nodded respectfully at her and did his best bow to show his faith in the goddess fox that now owned his soul.
Hiyuki chuckled slightly but nodded approvingly at his demonstration.
“I believe a five year seminar of fox training is in order but after that is finished you may leave my domain and return to the earth and the land of the Elemental Nations I will drop you off in the abandoned catacombs of the Fire Temple that used to be the spiritual place for our worship but is now abandoned due to fear and mistrust despite what happened not being our kind's fault.” Hiyuki the Goddess Fox told him firmly and truthfully.
Hiyuki then stood up from her sitting position and strode into a sharp ray of golden light that had suddenly appeared as a portal. It was only now that he realized they had been sitting on a fluffy yellow cloud surrounded by nothing but endless sky.
Shaking his head Minato nervously strode after her into the golden rays. A determined look set in his eyes as he decided to just focus on making it out of the next six years alive and still himself and not just some fox spirit of Hiyuki's summon group.
