In the Shadow of Love

Chapter 1

"Man, I thought we can't get through those cops HAHAHA" says Alistair. "Bro, they almost caught Casper" the other guy named Ben said. "Hey, stop it you two" a girl named Lauren said and went to Casper which just arrived and went out of his car. "Hey Cas, would you come dance with me?" Lauren then asked Casper, but he stared at her seriously and said, "You know I can't dance, are you messing with me?" he said and went to join the other two guys while Mandy and Kevin enjoy themselves at the other car. "Call that loser who want to join us so we could go home I still have somethin' to do" Casper said and so they did call Kalix and he came as fast as he could.

"Hey man, sorry I was late I—" Ben interrupted him and said, "Ah cut the bullshit man we said 10pm not 10:05pm. Let's go" they went to a private property and told Kalix to smash some things on that dark storage room and Casper even said he's going to help him do it. "Man, did you guys do all this?" Kalix asked, "Of course all of us smashed things, I'll smash with you" he said, and he took the bat, when Kalix started smashing a big black dog went out and a security guard followed the dog went to Kalix and attached him, but the others managed to escape leaving only Kalix on the private property.

Casper was the last one to ride his car and run away but the guards quickly got him and took him to prison, his mom took him home after they police discussed what happed to her. "Cas, I don't know why you always get yourself into trouble" she stated. "Mom don't start lecturing me please—" "You are coming with me tomorrow" "Where?" he asked. "At the Church so you could hear some words from the Pastor and hopefully you change!" she said and walk away.

The next day they went to church and Casper was really bored on what the Pastor is saying. "May the people involved in the incident reflect on what they did, and hopefully change their behavior, forgive them Father for they have sinned and didn't know what they are doing. Amen" says the Pastor and the choir started singing. Vivien was a transfer student from the same school Casper goes to and so was the pianist. Casper can't help but to take a little glance of her little did he know that they would become classmates soon.

Vivien was a transfer student form the other city she was the Pastor's niece he told her that she can stay with them in their house, but Vivien said she'd rather stay in a dormitory because she feels like she was a big burden for her uncle and his family. So, by that day they took her to the school's dormitory and help her carry her things to her room. When they went to her room, they saw two girls playing cards and smoking with piercings and tattoos too. So, his aunt and uncle took her out of the room for a bit and told her that they want another room for her but there seemed to be no other room available for it is fully vacated by girls. "That's ok, that you so much for your help" she told his uncle. "We'll visit you every time dear, and hopefully you don't change as you are" says her aunt and she assured them she will not.

"Hey, do you want some?" her roommate gave her cigar, but she refuses to take it, "I'm Molly by the way" she said, and they shook hands "Vivien" she said. She started fixing her things and took a quick bath after for she's going to read her bible. When she came back, she didn't see anyone from the room but when she turned to her mirror, she was shocked to see a boy on her bed reading a book. "Uhm, I'm sorry but I think you are in the wrong room?" she said. "This is Molly's room" he said, and she nodded the guy stared at her for a second and she recognized him. "You're the guy from church" she said. "And you were that girl" he said and looked at his book again. Molly came in and asked what happened, Vivien then told her "Uhm can you ask your boyfriend to get off my bed I need to do something" "He's not my boyfriend he's my cousin" she said and asked Casper to leave the room.

Vivien was glad she went back to her room with her clothes on because if she didn't that boy would've seen her with just her bathrobe on. She then read her bible and slept after.

Casper was in Mr. Walker's office to discuss his punishments for not following school rules and for what he did to Kalix. "Casper, it was clearly stated that students can't drink inside school premises. Your grades are good, but you broke the law, and you even got your classmate into trouble." He then took 3 bottles of liquor and put it in his table showing a proof of what Casper did. "Okay, so just suspend me again for a couple of weeks" Casper said and stood up. "Mr. Scott, sit. down." He said seriously and Casper did sit down. "No more suspensions for you. You will have tutoring every Saturday, cleaning the grounds on your vacant times, joining the dance club." He said, but Casper didn't agree with the last one. "Sir, I can't dance" he said, "Then you will join drama club" "I can't act either" "Would you rather spend your whole week to be the server in the cafeteria and do the dishes instead?" the principal asked, and the boy said no." Then you will join drama club" he then marched out the principal's office and went in the gymnasium to clean and there he saw the church girl joining the science exhibit and showing how to identify different stars you see from the sky. "I didn't know the church girl knows science and not religion only. HAHAHA" Alister said, "And I didn't know you know science other than messing with others" she said and so they stopped laughing. "Come on guys, maybe angels would take you out of here if you piss her off" Casper said, and they all laughed. "Oh, I hope you're the first one to be taken" Vivien said and looked away to continue her discussion.

Vivien then signed up for an audition on the drama club and she was taken in by the head, which is Miss Muller, she was delighted by her performance and so she took her in and even got the main part for the drama. Casper on the other hand didn't sign up for the principal already talked to Miss Muller and he also got the main lead.

"So, thank you for all of you that you came here today. We will start giving to each one of you the parts that you will act for the drama. Ashley is the second leading actress girlfriend of Mavi and Vivien will be the main lead the singer at the bar and Casper will be Mavi. Duke made the scripts and the story, and I think I would like to change the song, I'll get Vivien's song which she entitled Echoes of Eternity the lyric was good for the play."

"Congrats for getting the main lead" Ashley said and smiled "Oh, thank you, I didn't expect I would" Vivien replied. "Girl your performance a while ago was great" she replied, and they began reading their lines.

"Oh, darling please no more drinks. You said we have plans tonight." Ashley read her lines with emotions and was quite good. "Sorry, I forgot we have. Anyway, another drink" Casper read plainly. "I thought you were serious about me, about us?" "Come on I never said anything like that" "Mavi no! Is there someone else? I hate you! I'm leaving" "Okay, bye" "Mr. Scott can you do better you're reading plainly" Miss Muller said.

After the practice Vivien went off and went in the cafeteria to read and to eat lunch. As she was reading and eating a familiar voice whisper in her ear. "I didn't know you kept my book, Viv" she turned her head and saw Luke her childhood bestfriend. "Luke? I didn't know you study here" she smiled and hugged him. "I missed you Viv, how are you?" he asked and sat down with her. "Never been better Luke, and you?" "Fine, you never changed. You're still beautiful than ever" she felt her cheeks getting red and her heart fluttered because of what he said. She tried to calm herself down and answered, "You look handsome too" they both laugh, and Casper saw it and so as his friends. "Sweet! Look who's here Luke Parker. Are you making moves with the girl?" Ben said and laughed, and everyone laughed but not Casper. "No, he is not, so why don't you start having a business minding your own" Vivien said and looked at Luke watching him laugh.

Casper can't stop looking at her face, "Those ridiculous bangs she has and that long hair she kept tying. Look at those long skirt and long sleeves she's wearing." He uttered inside his car as Vivien pass by with Luke, he's going to walk her home. Casper went home and the next day was the practice again.

"And fly with the wind and in the sky—" Vivien stopped singing when Casper interrupted. "I didn't know you can sing" "Because you don't know me at all" Vivien said and just grabbed her book and read under the tree near her dormitory. Casper was cleaning when he saw her. "You're reading that? I hate to spoil you but it's all just a lie" he said. "Actually, it was an imagination. I'm just rereading it" she said and looked away.

The days went so fast and now it's Saturday. "Wake up Casper" his mom said. "Casper!" "Mom, it's Saturday no school" he replied with a sleepy voice. "Tutoring, so get up and go" she said, and he immediately went off to take a bath. The school bus arrived in school, and everybody went in including Vivien. She got a letter that 10% will be discounted on her tuition fee if she tutors other students in other school. "So here we have the x axis and the why axis which one is the negative and positive side" Casper asked the boy he's tutoring but he found it boring, so he left Casper and his things.
