Heizou glanced around nervously, as if expecting someone or something to appear out of nowhere.
He shook his head, trying to clear the dark thoughts. This was no time to be afraid. He had to focus, figure out Y/n's next move, and stop her before she could strike again.
"Calm down, Heizou," he whispered to himself. "Just because the clues were directed towards you, doesn't mean you're the next target."
But the doubt was already there, and no matter how hard he tried to ignore it, the feeling of dread lingered.
As the night drew on, the silence in the room became almost suffocating. The only sounds were the occasional rustle of papers and the scratching of Heizou's pen against the paper.
He worked tirelessly, analyzing every detail, every clue. But no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't seem to connect the dots.
As the first rays of sunlight filtered through the blinds, Heizou's eyes felt heavy. His mind was a jumble of clues, testimonies, and cryptic messages. The words 'HELLO HEIZOU' seemed to be etched into his mind.
He stood up, stretching his stiff muscles. He walked over to the window, looking out at the city that was slowly coming to life. He could see the hustle and bustle of the early morning commuters, oblivious to the deadly game being played in their midst.
The detective sighed, shaking his head. He had no time to dwell on such things. He had a killer to catch, and the clock was ticking.
As Heizou was lost in his thoughts, his gaze fell upon a familiar figure down on the street. It was Y/n, looking as nonchalant as ever. His heart skipped a beat.
Without wasting a moment, Heizou grabbed his coat and rushed out of the room, almost tripping over his own two feet. He navigated through the early morning crowd, his eyes never leaving Y/n. He had to approach this carefully. He couldn't let her suspect that he was onto her.
"Y/n!" Heizou called out with a smile as he approached her.
She turned around, a surprised look on her face. "Detective Heizou," she greeted, her voice as calm as ever. "What brings you here so early in the morning?"
"I was just passing by," Heizou replied, trying to keep his voice casual. "I thought maybe we could grab a cup of coffee?"
Y/n raised an eyebrow but to Heizou's surprise, agreed.
They found the Café Lutece, not far from the courthouse, and sat down at a table outside. The early morning sunlight shone down on them, illuminating the scene.
The waiter came over, placing two steaming cups of coffee in front of them.
"I must admit," Y/n drawled, breaking the silence. "I'm surprised you wanted to have coffee with me, detective."
Heizou shrugged and gave her a smile. "Even detectives need a break sometimes," he replied, taking a sip of his coffee. "And who better to spend it with than a fascinating woman like you?"
She laughed, her eyes shining with amusement. "I must admit, detective, you're quite the charmer."
"I'm just being honest."
Heizou knew he was walking a fine line, but he had to keep her distracted, keep her at ease while subtly probing for information. This was a delicate dance, and one wrong step could alert her of his true intentions. He just hoped that he could outsmart her before it was too late.
As they sat there, drinking their coffee, Heizou could feel the tension building between them.
"So, what did you really want to talk about, Detective?" Y/n asked, peering at him over the rim of her coffee cup.
