I sit in the living room and watch TV as I eat my grilled cheese sandwich. Brooke wasn't home and it was nice and peaceful. I felt bad the other day when Chris came by for me. I don't know why I didn't make him leave. I know Brooke liked him, I was a terrible friend. I wanted him to stay, and that was unfair to Brooke. I won't let it happen again.

There's a knock on the door so I pause the TV and place my plate on the coffee table before getting up and opening the door to reveal my best fucking friend. Evie.

I squeal before wrapping my arms around her. She hugs me tightly as she laughs.

"What are you doing here?" I ask as I let her in.

"I wanted to surprise you." She says as she pulls her bag and suitcase in.

I close the door and smile at her.

"I'm so glad you're here." I say.

She smiles.

"Here, let's put your stuff in my room." I say as I take her suitcase from her.

I lead her to my room and place the suitcase at the foot of the bed.

"Damn, you got really good." She says as she looks at my paintings on the wall.

"Thank you." I say as I take her duffel bag from her.

I place it next to her suitcase as she looks around my room.

She falls onto the bed and laughs.

"Are you out of school?" I ask.

She nods, "Finished my finals last week." She says.

"Yay." I cheer as I lay next to her on the bed.

Me and Evie have been friends since 7th grade, she went to college right by our hometown in Colorado but I came to New Jersey.

"I'm starving." She says.

"Wanna go to The Grill?" I ask her.

"No idea what that is but yes." She smiles.

I laugh before I get up and walk over to my closet to get some clothes to wear.

"When are your finals?" She asks.

"In a few weeks." I tell her.

"Damn." She says.

"You're so lucky you get off so early." I say as I change.

"That's why you should've stayed in Colorado." She says.

"You know I couldn't. Not after everything that happened." I say.

She sighs, "I know, but I wish you did." She says.

"I'm sorry, Eve." I say.

"Don't be, it wasn't your fault." She smiles.

I smile back at her before I grab my phone and keys off my desk.

"Let's go?" I ask.

She nods before getting up.

We both make our way out of the apartment and to the car. I drove us to The Grill and we walked in and it was packed. I mean it was Saturday night so that's no surprise.

We wait for a while for our table before the hostess finally comes and seats us.

Once we sit down, Evie begins looking through the menu.
