At the sight of the two sisters hugging and saying their goodbyes to each other, Gemma let out a sigh of relief. Until the last moment the matriarch had feared her potential future daughter-in-law could change her mind and follow her sister to Ireland, taking Abel away from them.

But this wasn't the case and a glance at her right side where her son stood with his hands shoved deep into his pockets, Gemma could swear to see some relief in his blue eyes, too. Apparently they had shared the same fear and she understood.

Watching Abel hugging his aunt, not wanting to let go and all three of them shedding tears, still touched Gemma. She wasn't always a cold-hearted bitch, not at all. Maybe she had her flaws, but she had feelings just like everyone else. And over the short time she had the chance to get to know Caitlin, she had really grown fond of the young womanᅳ and she hated to see her and her grandson being this sad.

"I don't know if it's a good idea to separate them", Jax spoke up while watching the small group, dread in his tone. "What if Erin won't come back? They'll be devastated."

Gemma, surprised that Jax actually shared his fears with her, looked up at her son. She couldn't remember the last time he had opened up to her and now she was the one getting emotional. Yet, a smile tugged at the corners of her mouths as she stood there with her arms crossed.

"She made her decision, didn't she?" The matriarch reached out to put a hand on his cheek, causing him to tear his eyes away from the group and onto her. "What did you expect, baby? That they'd be all happy today?"

"No", the blonde shook his head slightly, his brows furrowed. "But I didn't think it would hurt them this much. Even Abel is crying."

"Mhmm..", Gemma hummed, realizing that she was the much calmer one right now, which was normally never the case. That just showed how real Jax' feelings really were for this woman.

"They used to spend almost every day together, Jackson, of course they're sad. But that doesn't mean they'll be sad forever. They're staying with you for a reason", she added with a warm smile, patting his cheek before lowering her arm. "And in a few days they're reunited again anyway."

Jax let out another sigh, not sure what to answer. But his mother was right. They're staying for a reason and Caitlin must really like him if she's ready to let her sister go and start a whole new life in a new country.

"You still comin' with us to Ireland?" Jax asked to change the subject so he could stop overthinking everything. "Her Dad's gonna be there, too."

"Of course I'm still coming", Gemma replied with the slightest huff. As if she'd miss a chance to spend time with her grandson and her son. A grin crossed her lips. "You're nervous about meeting your future father-in-law, huh?"

"Oh come on, ma", the blonde chuckled as he tilted his head back a little. His mother wasn't so wrong though. "Maybe a little. I know nothing about that man. What if he's a dick?"
