Situations overwhelm me.
Angry outbursts sending everyone sideways.
Mute is my natural state.
Frozen, my mind locked in a cage.
Strange how it changes,
When I look at my niece.
Her eyes the same color as mine, excited to see me.
I swing her around, and my hard exterior dissipates.
My nephew toddles over trying to pronounce my name.
I pretend to be a dinosaur,
Playing excitedly with a train
I hope they remember these memories
Of me and my nature, of playing games of catch and making daisy chains-
As erratic as it might seem, My unfortunate inconsistencies,
That even though I'm anti social I'll always be their auntie
