If, one day, out of nowhere, you died, Most people would feel sad; they had so much to accomplish and yet their lives had come to a halt. Some would have regrets about what they did, and religious people would think about heaven or hell.
"Guess that was it." Alen let out a sigh.
Alen Donovan. He was what a person would call average; through his life, nothing interesting has ever happened to him compared to his friend.
He grew up in a normal household with a few friends and managed to finish university and land a job at a company. Most of his friends described him as "boring." He did nothing interesting, and he had one singular hobby, which was playing games.
He was approaching his 30s and had been employed at the same location for ten years. He closed his eyes and felt lightheaded on the walk home.
When he opened his eyes again, he saw himself in a dark, empty place.
**
Alen was confused.
"I am sure I was on my way home. What is this place?" Alen continued to walk in the dark space that stretched infinitely.
"Sorry for the wait," a voice with a hint of boredom out of nowhere reached him.
"You must be Alen Donovan. It seems there was a problem after all." The being that appeared from the Void looked like a human being.
Long black-haired female with what seemed to be a cigarette in her mouth. She continued to talk without giving Alen time to react.
"Since I don't have time to waste, I will be going through the process real quick. Let's see what your life looks like." In an instant, papers appeared out of nowhere in the hands of the female. She started looking through them, and her face showed a change of expression.
"A boring guy who likes to play games who wishes to live a peaceful, everlasting life, I decided, I will be sending you to this world. Have fun" Without a moment to talk to the being, Alen began to fall.
Alen was lost in meditation, but he quickly emerged from it. He had no problem with his life ending this way. He had nothing else to do, nothing to regret. He also heard that he was leaving for a different world.
" I hope it a good one at least"
That was the end of Alen as Alen Donover.
**
A street is bustling with people.
Even though this was in the middle of the day, grayish, chilly fog was blanketing everything the eyes could see.
Alen, who just arrived in this world, was still in disbelief that this place was his new home, especially since he knew what kind of place the world he arrived in was.
"Why Arknight of all places?"
Alen was slowly gaining memories of the body he was in. The moment he learned familiar words like "Siracusa" and "lupo," he could tell immediately where they were.
"I didn't even play that much of Arknight. Am I screwed?"
Before Alen could think even more, a blue screen appeared. He had read some novels, so he knew what cliche this was. A "system" that helps those who are chosen
"Isn't this one way too strange?"
As someone who reads novels, he only had three things. It was the skills the god had given him.
Alen checked the skills, and there were three of them explained in a simple way. They were [an immortal's wish]. [Knowledge of Alchemy] [True Assassin]
The past owner's body had quite a history. He was an orphan who was picked up and trained to be a strong assassin for a family. He didn't meet the expectations as chased out.
But as a loyal member, he was given some money, which he used to start a small store that sold bread. It seems some of his past loomed around him.
"Well, it doesn't matter now, does it?"
That was all in the past. It wasn't something I should particularly worry about anyway. This body had now become mine, and my second life had begun.
Alen continued on his way to the store. He stopped around to buy a newspaper. He read all the news to confirm the timeline.
"It looks like the Texas event has yet to take place. Well, good, let's live a wonderful, calm life as breadmen."
Alen didn't have to worry about death at all due to the gift he got [an immortal's wish]. It made him unable to die no matter how he was killed, and not only that, he couldn't age. [Knowledge of Alchemy] allowed him to manipulate or change the form of all he touches, with the only limit being that it consumes stamina, and [True Assassin] gave him the most perfect assassin skill set he needed.
He didn't have any more worries about the deadly disease that was oripathy. Although it meant he was unable to use Originium Arts, it was the perfect trade.
Alen had arrived at his shop, but something was amiss.
" Hmm? Why do I sense people in it? The store should be closed according to my memory."
Boom...
A sound of breaking objects echoed.
Alen frowned. It seems his new life is already going against his wishes.
