It's been a month since Paige died. Not a day goes by at dance, school, or anywhere wishing she was here still. People tell me she's in a better place now, but I don't believe it.

It's finally December, a day from Christmas break. I'm lying on the couch playing on my phone waiting for my mom to drive me to school.

Finally she comes downstairs ready to leave. We hop in the car and drive to my school. Maddie pulls up right beside us. I jump out of the front seat and walk next to Maddie. We make it to class right before the bell rings.

Lunch•
On Friday's me and Maddie have different classes before lunch, so we meet by our lockers. We both take so long finishing up in class, by the time we get to our lockers, the halls are empty. I walk along an empty hallway and take a left turn into the hallway with my locker in it.

I am the only one in the short hallway.

Where's Maddie?

I walk over to my locker and open it, shoving my books into it. I grab my lunch and head to the cafeteria. I look around and soon spot Maddie sitting at a table full of girls.

And you'll never believe who was sitting right next to her.

Nia Frazier.

They were laughing together, Eating together, sitting together and getting along together.

I wanted to cry. My best friend, the one I could pour my guts out to, was sitting with my arch nemesis, and enjoying it!

Before I went and cried my heart out, I had to figure out what was going on.

Wait.

These were Nia and her friends. Plus I was the shyest girl in the entire world. I pulled my phone out of my pocket and texted Maddie.

K: Hi Maddie! Why are you sitting with Nia?

M: Umm, because she's actually nice and doesn't share my secrets with everyone.

K: Wait what?

M: Whatever. Bye.

I feel tears rise in my eyes and my stomach flips. I run to the janitors closet and pull the door shut behind me. I throw my backpack down and sit on the cold tile with my head in my knees.

I cry until the bell rings.

Right before I open the door I feel something rise from my stomach.

I puke all over the floor.

When I'm sad like this it usually makes me sick. I pull the door open and run to the office as quickly as possible.

I called my mom and she came and picked me up.

Once we were in the car she asked what happened.

"Mad-Maddie, Maddie hates me mom!"

My mom looked at me in shock.

"How is that possible you've been friends forever!"

"I don't know but I'm tired and worn out so can we talk later please?"

My mom nodded and drove to our house without saying another word.

When we pulled in the driveway I ran up the stairs and into my room, slamming the door behind me. I flopped on my bed and started crying again.

What had I done? I would try to talk to her at dance later today, and try to figure out what in the world I had done.

•At dance•
I was already in studio A with Chloe and Brooke. Abby went back to the dancers den and called everyone else out. Since there was no competition, that meant no pyramid.

Soon dance was done.

I was sitting in the den alone when Maddie walked in untangling her pointe laces.

When she looked up and saw only me sitting, she turned to walk back out.

I jumped up and grabbed her arm.

"Maddie stop!" I said pulling her back.

"Get off of me Kendall! Get off!" She yelled trying to shake me off.

"No!" I screamed shoving her on the ground. I pinned her arms back and sat on her stomach. "Tell me why you're ignoring me."

"No! Now get off of me you psycho!" She yelled trying to kick me.

"Madison Nicole Ziegler!"

"You know why! Now get off of me!"

"Know what?!"

"Get off of me Kendall!!"

I stood up and released her.

I put both my hands on my hips. "Now tell me! Why are you ignoring me?!"

Maddie sighed.

"You told everyone I was so desperate to get Gino, I'm paying him to date me, and a whole bunch of other shit that's not true. Now leave me alone Kendall."

I saw tears fill her eyes and soon were filling my eyes too.

As she turned to leave I yelled,

"Maddie I would never!"

She ignored me, picked up her tangled pointes, and walked out.

•A Few Days Later•
Every winter break we go to my grandparents house that's up north. Of course we drive though, because my mom says it makes us more like a "normal family" and not a rich family that always takes planes and private jets.

"Kendall honey are you ready to go yet?" My mom said walking into my mint green room.

"Yeah just zipping my lasts bag up."

I zipped the rest of the bag and carried it downstairs. My sister picked it up and carried it outside to the car with the rest of the bags.

Once all the bags were in the back and we were all buckled, my mom started the car and we started driving.
