Author's note: recently I have been getting really into fantasy stories and thus this one shot was born. It's looking more of a three-shot seeing how long I've already made future chapters. This is more of a crawl to get to romantic parts, but the ride is worth it, I promise!

Summary: As the only princess to the Ostonian Empire you have always known that your duty was to your people. Therefore, as tensions between the Eastern Empire and Western Kingdom escalated, your parents decided the best course of action was to marry you to the recently appointed King of Westalis to ensure peace. However, will you be able to survive his majesty's rumored cold-blooded heart and ruthless tongue?

"My lady, this behavior is absolutely unacceptable. What would his majesty say!?"

You cringed as your head lady in waiting, Sylvia Sherwood, berated you once again for sneaking off castle grounds without permission. Ever since your father, Emperor of Ostonia, proposed the idea of your arranged marriage, you had become increasingly more restless.

It wasn't that you hadn't been expecting it. As the only princess to the Eastern Empire, you knew you wouldn't have the choice to marry for love. Your older brother, Yuri, was destined for the throne since the moment he was born. He had already been betrothed to the daughter of the Blackbell's, a well known aristocratic family who was renown for their loyalty to the imperial line.

Besides, you were willing to make the sacrifices needed to ensure the safety of your people, and with tensions rising in the west, you knew you'd likely to be shipped off as a peace offering of a bride. You just didn't realize it'd be so soon. You didn't know if you could part with your country so quickly.

Hence, the sneaking out. For the past week you had slipped out whenever possible and wandered the streets of the city that stood on the outskirts of the Royal Palace. You'd always take a cloak to ensure you wouldn't be noticed, but the city was a place you'd become quite familiar with; it was a second home. Sometimes you'd sit in the comfort of a Cafe and watch both the social elite and commoners shop in the endless line of boutiques and jewlers.

"My lady are you even listening to me!?"

You looked up to see Sylvia's icy blue eyes staring daggers into you.

"Do you want me to call in your brother? He won't be happy to hear of your recent escapades."

At her threat you rolled your eyes. You loved your brother, adored him, but sometimes he could be... a bit overprotective to say the least. The last thing you needed was for him to be kicking your door down again, threatening to put you under house arrest for your impudence.

"No need Sylvia," you sighed, rising from your desk only to flop onto your bed in exhaustion. Sylvia wordlessly removed your slippers while requesting a maid to fetch you a herbal cup of tea before your scheduled dinner with your brother and father.

By the time you were changed into your evening gown, you couldn't help but notice the uptick in commotion among the servants once you left your chambers. The royal servants scurried past you with dizzying efficiency, hastily bowing in your direction. You raised an eyebrow as one of the maids nearly tripped at the sight of you when you caught her whispering to one of the servers.

You were sure you were going to figure out what threw the Palace into such chaos soon enough.

Your brother was already waiting for you as you entered the Great Hall. His expression instantly morphed into a goofy grin at the sight of you.
