Wolfstar tried not to despair over the prophecy he had heard at the ceremony. Morningcloud seemed to share his fears when she heard what the new leader had to say.

"Let's keep what you heard in mind," She meowed, walking down the hill that overlooked the vast field. Her cream fur swayed in the early morning wind. "But you can't tell anyone else. Much less about what you heard at the ceremony."

The leader agreed. Morningcloud had already said that only the leaders can know about what happens when drinking from the Moon Lake. He felt anxious about having to keep something like that to himself, but he trusted the medicine cat.

The two cats had finally crossed the length of HillClan, and were now striding across the fields. The grass beneath his paws was soft and cozy. The creek that crossed the field could already be seen, and Wolfstar told them to stop and have a drink.

Morningcloud bent down, quenching her thirst with the delicious icy water. Wolfstar did the same, looking sideways at the she-cat. Her light green eyes were half closed, and she was watching her reflection. The long hairs on her cheek were wet and stuck to her face, making her look even smaller.

The she-cat finally quenched her thirst, lifting her head elegantly. She glared at the leader, who suddenly looked embarrassed to catch her eye.

"Are your eyes really healed?"

The she-cat meowed, sitting up. Wolfstar remembered when he woke up in an unknown place after almost drowning in the Moon Lake. If not for Morningcloud, he would have died without even receiving his nine lives.

"Yes, I feel as if our ancestors healed me," He said, focusing on the stream. Water ran quickly between the rocks, splashing a little. "My face still hurts, but my eyes aren't blurry anymore."

"That's good." There was a bit of resentment in the she-cat's voice. Wolfstar wondered if she thought StarClan had cured him because they thought she wouldn't be able to. The medicine cat sighed, lifting her head in amusement. "Now you won't have to sleep in my den anymore."

"I only slept there for a day," the leader defended, muttering.

"One day was enough to drive me crazy."

They got up and continued walking towards the camp. They walked slowly, taking their time to reach the camp, which was not far away. They chatted animatedly, as if they were apprentices again.

Morningcloud had always been a medicine cat apprentice; the moment she was born, shortly after the death of her mother, Pantherfang, the ancient healer, received an omen from StarClan, announcing that the young she-cat would be his new apprentice.

But that didn't stop the two from forming a beautiful friendship. Being Treestripe's half-sister, this complicated things a bit, given Wolfstar's dislike of the Siamese warrior in the past. But with time, and a lot of insistence from Sharpear, the two ended up making peace, and also became good friends and brothers.

Now, after moons and moons, the two were on different levels, however, making them closer than ever.

As they approached the hill that would lead to the camp, Wolfstar came across the night's patrol that had just returned. He recognized Snakefang, Mudfur, Treestripe, and Sunnypaw. When looking at his brother, he wasted no time and ran to greet him.

"How good you're doing well!" the Siamese warrior meowed, licking his brother's shoulder. "And I see you're better too."

"Yes, StarClan is truly miraculous," he purred. His warriors meowed, happy with the arrival of their new leader. New leader, he thought. Now they will fight for me.
